My fault or GoDaddy's?

Yesterday I was having troubles logging into my GoDaddy account. Instead of logging in I tried to get in through choosing a domain. So I typed in random letters and it logged me in. I then was happy so I forgot about the whole thing.

Next day when I go to buy a domain, I pay and little do I know I just bought the random domain I typed yesterday. I wasn't aware it was added to my cart, and I never saw it when I checked out with the intended domain.

Somebody on namepros told me they have a 5 day policy where they are allowed to refund any registered domain. Little did I know that their actual terms say otherwise. Not knowing this, I e-mailed them asking about what could be done.

We would be happy to request a refund for your order. However, we will need you to first cancel the service in question.

Thinking I was going to get a refund, I cancelled the domain and then sent another e-mail to finalize the refund.

This is what I got back:
Unfortunately domain registrations, renewals or completed transfers are non refundable. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

I then finally saw their terms of service and found that in fact they DO NOT give refunds.

GoDaddy.com is unable to change or edit the spelling of a domain name after it has been registered. The system is setup to attempt to register the domain exactly as it is entered. Should the registration succeed, charges will be incurred even if the domain entered was not what the person actually intended to type. The system only knows what is actually typed. Because GoDaddy.com is charged the moment any domain is submitted, registrations are not refundable.

This has be wondering though, shouldn't the person who sent me the first e-mail be aware of their terms and tell me I cannot get a refund on all domains? I know I technically should have been aware as it's implied I have read all their terms, but I'm just a little angered that I cancelled a domain for no reason. Sure the domain was bad, but I would take a bad domain over nothing to begin with.

The domain was frrrr.com for anybody who was wondering :td:.

I think it is GD's fault. I would not have canceled had I known it is not refundable.

How is the traffic for the frrr.com? A cute name though.

Godaddy has the same 5 day delete window that every other registrar does. They just choose to keep your money.

You can, of course, request that they "uncancel" the domain.. I have done so with success months later...

Fault is on the user end..it's all in the TOS :) You just have to pay attention to what you are ordering.

I'm sorry to say, but you should have checked what was in your shopping cart before you checked out. GD keeps domains that you searched for checked. So when you went to buy your other domain, it also included the one you searched for the other day (must have been saved in your cookies). GD should at least get you the domain back. Try calling and talking with them.

you didn't check your Total before you hit check out?

Buyers remorse?

Certainly not Godaddys Fault, in my opinion!

Everyone makes mistakes people. I'm sure we've all done it I know I have plenty of times. And I can see how mistakes could easily be enhanced while trying to weed your way through Godaddy's sell you the shirt off their back advertising/checkout process. Most registrars will delete the name if you notify them of the mistake within the 5 days. It's good customer service to do so.

i would say it was user's fault because you should be aware of what is in your cart ... at some places my cart still have 10 items from last year ... but if i buy something i make sure to remove those stuff
