Unlimited* As big as the server is*. I'm not sure why but so many people are falling for buying Unlimited hosting, most of which has ridiculous Terms of Service that if your server's CPU usage, or something to that affect will bring on a permanent account termination with no refund. Or the host will crash as soon as a reseller starts selling 1TB Proxy hosting. Some also don't allow audio or video downloads.

One of my own family members fell for buying a 'Unlimited' hosting package at $20 a month.. :/

I am assuming your referring to hostcrocodile who's TOS states that if you use 10% of your account resources they will terminate your account.

I love reading some hosts TOS, they crack me up.

They could be an example, although there's many smaller hosts that offer unlimited hosting.

Unlimited doesn't exist. Unmetered is a different thing.

Yes. You are right, Unlimited is not possible in any aspect of life and there is nothing without limits. Unmetered, within the direct definition is possible, as it's certainly possible for a host not to measure how much bandwidth you've used. Unmetered bandwidth is possible only for the dedicated servers and on shared account it is as dishonest as unlimited. Unlimited is not possible but unmetered is possible b'coz bandwidth is a commodity that someone needs to pay for eventually. The term unlimited is only a marketing strategy go through the TOS of companies offering unlimited space or bandwidth and you will find some restrictions after all nothing in the world is unlimited.

Well even the unmetered designation is a misnomer. Some of the unlimited crowd have switched over to this. The problem is that unmetered means "not metered" according to the English language. If you monitor, therefore meter, the account, then it's not unmetered.

The key will be better education. Unfortunately, the hosting industry is notorious for taking advantage of unsuspecting people. However, as long as the big boys continue to offer these amounts which never will be used, it will continue.
