For some time now, since the viral news of the one minute owner of the most trafficked website and search engine on Internet was registered by Sanmy Ved, I have being thinking on how such a thing could be possible, without going through the normal procedure.
However, I do not doubt the possibility of the registration, because there is enough proof of it in the media. But how could it be possible to register a non-expired and non-dropped domain name? I mean, really, because there was no time or a single moment when this almighty domain Google.com ever lapsed on its registration.
With my experience in the domain industry, I know how long it takes to get a domain that is owned by someone else; it takes a certain number of days and there is a specific procedure for any domain owned by someone else before it can become available for someone else to register it again.
Now, my questions:
Could it be deliberate by the Google Domains, which is the registrar and registrant of the Google.com? But the other side of it, if it is possible, then on what grounds could such a thing happen?
This is a new scenario to me; I have never seen nor heard of it happening before.
As a follow up on this issue, I want to also look at the possibilities of peoples’ views on Google's use of abc.xyz to see if this is the true reason behind the rumor of switching the multi-billion dollar search engine to .xyz extension – in my opinion, I do not think this could be a genuine reason behind the viral news that has now made Sanmy Ved one of the most broadcast people in recent time.
Though, Sanmy Ved was previously an employee at Google, and he registered Google.com for just $12 from Google Domains - not from the aftermarket.
