Is .mobi making you a better domainer?
I've found that through these past few weeks of .mobi mania, I'm getting better at seeing the quality of a domain name. Having so many great generic domains to choose from early on (and even now, if you look hard enough) and then having to weed down a long list of them to only the number of names I can afford at that time has made me better able to separate the wheat from the chaff. When I now look over the long list of available domain names in other extensions that I had planned to go back and register, I realize that I shouldn't even have considered at least 80% of them. And I'm much more hesitant about brandables now as a whole as well (even though I'm currently in the middle of negotiations for a decent sale of one).
I have a feeling that I won't be registering very many domains in other extensions from now on -- the availability of .mobi has spoiled me. If it isn't something close to generic, I won't be picking it up. No more combiznet.coms or onthestreetlive.coms (to name a couple that I've registered) for me! Although .mobi mania hasn't been kind to my wallet, I think in a way it WILL make me spend less down the road on other extensions. At least, that's how I'm going to rationalize this for now. :D
Anyone else seeing this in their own domaining?
