I did a site check yesterday on google (site:mobi) which was showing 524,000 mobi sites already indexed, and again this morning that is now showing 542,000.

I'm sure this is not an exact science and all depends when google finds and crawls a new site, but never the less, I thought it was impressive to be showing 18,000 new sites in just one day.

I went through several pages and they are all (as far as I can tell) just listing the main page and not every page they have indexed.

Is this correct? and they only show just the main page when doing this type of search?

I also thought it would be interesting to keep a thread like this active and updated periodically as to the progress of how fast mobi sites are coming online.

Obviously there are many people starting to develop and not just holding on to their names and would seem like a very good indicator how fast mobi is catching on.

I believe it depends upon where you're located ... for instance, I get "Results 1 - 10 of about 533,000" (with lots of parked and registration pages), IMHO. :gl:

Still, developments of the .MOBI is noteworthy! :music:

Hhmm- not sure why your location would have to do with results when it's a World Wide extention, but you are indeed right and now it's only showing 530,000.

So much for my theory using this as an indicator, but it's still impressive for only being out a few months and found some new mobi sites that I wasn't aware of that are already developed.

I guess if we had an idea of how many names have been registered as nrmillions has pointed out, then looked at these numbers, it would probably give more insite as to how many are actually being developed.

Google has so many servers and they are constantly in a state of info flux. You probably hit a different server each time.

Too bad most of them are undeveloped.

Every single one I clicked on went to a developed site and not a single one was undeveloped or was parked.

I'm sure if I clicked on all half a million of them I would find some, but not sure where your getting your information to make a broad statement like that.

Mathematically, the VAST majority of .mobi's are not developed ... in just a few moments of scrolling through the aforementioned Google results reveals literally pages upon pages of undeveloped and parked domain names, IMHO. In my view, CharlieA has undersated it ... though present and future actual .MOBI developments are a good thing! :music:

Just my two sense.
