DomainTools Blog :

I am extremely impressed with Mike Mann, He sold BuyDomains a few years ago for $65+ Million but he didn’t go quietly into retirement. He started a Venture Capital firm in Washington DC called WashingtonVC. Mike has always known the value of good domain names. Most of his startups have excellent Generic Domain Names and then he tries to build solid companies on top of those domain names. That is a great formula for success.

The companies he has invested include HappyBirthday.com led by Miguel Fiol, Phone.com led by Ari Rabban, Software.com led by Mike Bell, PodCast.com led by Scott Beatty. Today he just announced the purchase of SEO.com by WashingtonVC. And the formation of an SEO firm led by Dave Bascom. The company was formally called Web Targeted, but the new domain gives this SEO firm a huge leg up on its competitors.

I think there were few *unconfirmed* forum postings that the owner was asking for $750k?

I wish I HAD THE MONEY!! :)

EDIT-

I was wrong about the 1st price. Here is another unconfirmed price. ($5m?)

750k is a steal for a domain like that

so if you have a good name, sit on this for many years and wait for the big bucks!

That's not the true price. I don't think anyone would sell such domain for that low price. sf2010 edited his post and the link now says $5 million (unconfirmed price).

I think DNjournal will list it in its next report.

Since when was $750k a "low price"? Honestly I would be suprised if this sold for more than 750k. I am thinking in the range of 300k-500k which is still a substantial sum.

What do you think he price should have been?

It is easy to make more money when you have money.

And it is so hard for me to make money because of I don't have money :( There are so many beautiful domains drop everyday, but shame that I don't have the budget to fight with other bidders

if it's easy, everyone would be doing it, right? :hehe:

i dunno, as a noob this may sound naive, but you could always develop a site based on so-so domain name, sell it, and re-invest?
