m.google.mobi - a positive sign :) :)

..this site now resolves on the PC (actually, the first ever advertisement I see for "Google.mobi")

I have missed this place NP, we had some great times (.mobi founding community) - best wishes for more and more..

Good to hear from you Yelo. Hope all is going well for you.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I have no idea if it's new, but I haven't seen google.mobi advertised / branded by the big G anywhere before either

B-)

What the heck the m. is doing there is :-/ ??? Looks like old habits

WIP hey!

hi!

Nice hearing from you as well, I remember your inspirational personal story and here's to the best times ever for all..

Oh, the m., maybe Google is telling us "out of the box" that there will be a mesh of mobile outlets online; perhaps, google is sending us a message about .mobi as well (big secrets?)

Well, have a super day

^ Thanks, Rob ... I put your referenced 'href link' into a browser, and posted the result (how it resolves) above! :gl:

In fact, we're discussing the m.example.mobi thing now on the mTLD blog ... the consensus thus far is that it's redundant, confusing, and doesn't make much sense, generally speaking. We are trying to figure out why an "m" would be in front of an ".mobi" - since either (mutually exclusive), if fully developed, would be acceptable "mobile websites" for those - who are not on cool iPhonesโ„ข - that are out and about while "on the go" IMHO. :gl:

As always, your input is always appreciated! :music:

Yes, my opinion is it's maybe being tested out, like a sandbox, that's why it's tucked over on the subdomain.
Will the full google.mobi be launched in the future? Time will tell

For those not visiting the site.
Here's a screenshot:

Google themselves clearly inviting us to use 'Google.mobi' at top and at bottom giving us a Tip to bookmark for quick access to Google services

All in all pleasing to see. Watch this space, moreover, without the m. in time i think

Pred,

You'd know better than I would - is anyone in the process of contacting Google to petition them to begin using .mobi vs. the "m dot" address?

Kind of odd using m.google.mobi and google.com/mobile :-/

m dot and mobi have morphed into one :? Kind of an odd thing to do wouldn't you say?

I've never seen m.google.mobi advertised so I can't imagine anyone typing that into their browser. Now I've seen everything

dare i say post 8 may explain it better. just my opinion, but like you say it's a nuts thing to do,, why even bother with the m., thats why i think is a testing pad. i mean who would be nuts enough to go there to find?
thanks Yelo

I wonder why the naysayers have nothing to say about this screenshot? Seems odd, no? You'd think they would (at least) acknowledge it?

On a side note, I see Jeff is active in other threads (.tel), but noticeably absent in this one since the screenshot has been posted. So, point blank question to Jeff, no this is not a personal attack and I hope no one chooses to delete another one of my posts:

Jeff, what do you think about Google's subtle promotion of google.mobi in the screenshot above?

^^.MOBI "naysayer" here...

I think if Google starts using .mobi that's a huge sign for .mobi. I watch FoxNews all day, every day, and hear "visit us on FoxNews.mobi on your mobile devices" which is a great sign.

I may think that an extension won't work, but as a domainer, why deny when something is gaining traction? It's ridiculous to deny that .mobi has gained traction recently.

Fox News is the most highly watched cable news network in the United States. If Google begins adopting .mobi for their mobile site, that's huge news for the extension.

I am not a .mobi investor, but if .mobi takes off, all of you who had a long-term vision will profit handsomely! :tu:

Oh believe me, I've already tried weaning myself from the news... I need to crack open a bookmore often. :|

I may start losing my mind very soon. :-/ :snaphappy: :guilty:

He seems to be concerned enough that he's 're-added' - visit m.google.com from your phone - to his sig again! (I tried it, but don't have any '.'s on my 'phone'!) His whole anti .mobi rantings, and reason to live, would blow up on him if Google started to use Google.mobi! (come on google!!)

Googleโ„ข

Sorry for the delay, I'm aware that my dear friend Yelo historically brings up the Google + ".mobi" here on occassion (for instance, search "google.mobi" in the Quick Search box atop the site) ... I honestly don't know what to make of this 'm.google.mobi', it seems redundant IMHO. :|

PS. If Google fully develops a stand-alone and unique & compelling "google.mobi" ... and then promotes/markets it as their mobile site, I will extend hearty kudos IMHO. :music:

Take care for now.
