I am about 30 minutes outside of Detroit, MI. I stumbled upon .mobi while on ebay. I think it was 2 or 3 days after the landrush began. I immediatly realized that this had huge potential and started to reg. away. I managed to get some quality names but could have done a little better. Not knowing enough, I passed on some availables that I would consider gems. One being jinx.mobi. All in all I think this venture will end in success. Hopefully everyone here has a great run with the mobi revolution.

I found out about .mobi 3 weeks before the landrush whilst browsing the forums after a little break from domaining for a year or so. Then went mobi mad!

I received a news letter from hostway.com marketing .mobi in May of 2006 and immediately started to pre-register many key words but later found out they were reserved. I had to think about other names. All in all I did ok.

But I did not realize that a lot of people using faked trade mark registrations grabbed my pre-registered names.

My GoDaddy exec kept pressing me on the .mobi pre-registration beginning in August. I didn't listen but luckily he kept pressing. I did some research and finally the light bulb went off! I set a budget, made a big list, pre-registered at 5 different registrars and finally (luckily) registered 40% of the domains on September 26, 2006.

I actually came to Namepros looking for a new registrar in the registrar reviews section. I just happened to notice the little mobi icon and got curious. I clicked on it to see what it was all about and I've been here ever since.

The exact details elude me but I heard about .mobi in '05 I think but forgot about it until July or August '06. After looking it over again I liked what I saw and participated in the landrush. My only regret was to not reg my landrush list with as many registrars as possible. Only managed to get about 30% of my list.

Got an email from Pool about the .mobi land rush and how they were going to be in on it. Glad I did.

Stayed out of .mobi landrush due to huge loses in .eu landrush.

Sat back on sidelines and monitored trends, sales, and exposure.

Spent countless hours educating myself, reading articles, potential growth and applications.

Looked at it from an investor's point of view just like the stock market.

Joined these forums. Learned more. Listened to the pros and cons. The cons made some good points but the overall gist was purely a hate and disdain for .mobi.

Did not let either side sway me. Continued to monitor market trends and technology forums and news. No, I am not a techy or a geek.

Saw indeed a market and unsurpassed rapid growth in such a short time. I have never seen a domain achieve such wide use and acceptance since getting into domains over a decade ago.

No, I am not jumping on the bandwagon. I am adding to my portfolio what I believe are quality and worthy domain name. Mobi perhaps makes up roughly 5% of my portfolio.

In time, others will come to realize and accept that .mobi can and will co-exist as a seperate format and platform.

The bottom line...it makes damn good sense.

But i first reg mobi in nov,2006. I miss a good time. so boring.

I almost missed .mobi. I came to know just few days before the landrush. I put a big list for reg and did not know about reserved names at that time. Foutunitly for me dir.mobi was not reserved and I got it after some bidding on pool.com. Now I wonder what I would have done without dir.mobi.

I still missed lot of good names not knowing about the reserved names. I would have looked for other names otherwise. No regrates though, I am happy with just dir.mobi for now. It actually helped me focus on one site.
