LLLL.cn buyout already affecting LLLL.com prices?

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Take a look over at TDNAM... These are closing within the next 2 hours:

GOQL @ $38
NYUV @ $60
WWUV @ $41
DHHQ @ $35

Seem like somewhat high bids, no? Did I forget to mention, these do not include the renewal fees? :sold:

So... Maybe something is up at TDNAM.. Head over to Ebay, where some of the cheapest LLLL.coms sold in November have been found, according to TDVR.com.

The situation is much the same...

Names like RHUV.com, RHZE.com, and RHZO.com have $15+ bids on them and... they expire in February 2008! And... there's 4-6 days left in these auctions :hi:

I didn't see the .cn buyout coming, but talk about boosting the value of our .com's; man this might get crazy real fast. You must be waking up everyday with a smile, congrats!!!

"+7 (renewal fee included)" prices seem strong but not outrageously high to me (these are all decent-looking LLLL combos IMO - if I had the money right now I'd be happy to pick up one or more from the above list at those prices.)

As far as potential effect from LLLL.cn buyout - seems more likely to be a coincidence (in the literal sense of the word even) ... Interesting idea - but has LLLL.cn buyout really been widespread big news even among LLLL.com buyers on eBay and TDNAM?

Simpler explanation -> a rising tide lifts all boats ...

Still ... interesting. Would be good to get more evidence / ideas about potential linkage between LLLL.com and LLLL.cn markets.

Most names selling at TDNAM seem to be selling at ~ 20-30% premium this week versus last week.

WWUV should fetch ~ $35, rather than $48. GOQL ended up fetching $68 - a considerable amount (~$35-$40) more than these names typically fetch. Ebay doesn't seem to have any cheap ones (at least by the time they sell) anymore...

DotCN mentioned that Chinese companies are also interested in .coms, as well as .cns... Perhaps we're seeing domainers increase their expectations in light of expecting more endusers in the future?

Maybe the buyout of LLLL's in another extension has given credibility to the theory that LLLL.coms will follow in LLL.com's footsteps?

No clue what's the cause with certainty, but if you take the entire TDNAM list of prices and compare it to the same list from yesterday, Sunday, etc, it's very clear that prices are higher not only on individual names, but pretty much across the board.

edit: I can say that this rise in price isn't really any faster than the rise in price many 2x premium + 1x bad letter (not Q) LLL.coms saw over the summer. It took literally a few days for prices on many of these names to go from ~6k to 8-9k. I saw one bought here for ~ 5.5k fetch 7.6k at Sedo all of 2 months later.

one way that the LLLL.com buyout affected prices at tdnam was that GD stopped putting any LLLL.com into the $5 closeout bin.

there used to be about 10-15 4L.coms in the $5 bin at any one time, these days i don't see any, ever. ( maybe i'm just getting beaten to the punch! )

Yeah, I haven't seen any $5 ones either since the buyout... GD and Snap have alot of power to influence the direction LLLL.coms go in.. If GD or Snap were to raise min prices once again, it would only further increase prices...

As prices at GD start becoming $30+ more and more frequently, it's only logical that we'll see more and more Snap backorders. Whether these backorders will translate into Snap eventually charging more for them is anyone's guess... Were that to occur, would it not be possible plausible that the cycle would repeat itself.

Higher prices at Snap would discourage backorders and encourage bidding at TDNAM. More users (and hence bidding) at TDNAM would increase prices and hence increase backorders at Snap.

It makes sense to me, and now I wish I had bought a heck of a lot more. I'm happy with my 45, they're from a long time ago; and the .cn buyout has bumped them up even higher. I could have sold them all last month for a new car, this month, it's a much nicer car. But when I think about next year, well that just ads a little more strut to my step.

I'm digging the LLLL.cn buyout!!!

You have some very nice LLLL.coms :) Who knows... Maybe a few years from now they'll buy you a second house :tu:

This would happen more likely when LLLL.net started disappearing.

i agree.

.cn's aren't the usual "second option" (or even third option for that matter) from .coms - .nets are. i also think that .cn's are cheaper in reg/renew fees than the other extensions, which also slants the issue a bit.

If anyone has a list of all 26^4 LLLL.net combinations, send it my way and I'll scan the whole thing and report back the findings :)

That would be great Reece. I believed CVCV.net were sold out at one point and VCVC.net are disappearing quickly (i'm not responsible for it..lol) I only took a hand full in the last 2 weeks)

I'll code a php script real quick to output that list. Do you want them with or without the .net added?

I have an old list of LLLL.net that rawandy made up in June. There should be ~50% registered. It's large. Reece, if you PM me your email address, I can send it to you.

i realise a lot of my LLLL.coms domains are taken in its .cn n .com.cn also
i think the market for LLLL.cn is very big especially for bad letters..because its more used there..

but its still a happy news for .com owners.. soon the LLLL.net buyout..wonder how long does it takes

As for LLLL.net buyout, it's just a matter of time imo.
Great to hear about LLLL.cn buyout :)

I don't think that there will be a LLLL.net buyout for a long time. I would be very careful buying LLLL.net. If LLLL.cn cost $0.14, and around half are owned by users then a buyout costs $30,000-$40,000. Renewal fees would cost over $1,000,000. I expect mass dropping of these names.

A LLLL.net buyout would cost more than $1,000,000 in additional fees. Look at the ccc.net buyout. It is more than a year since then and people are still struggling to sell their renewed domains at reg fee.

Heading off to work now. I should be done the scan late tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how many 4x premium LLLL.nets are left. I'll send a copy of the results to everyone that's pmed me. If you'd also like a copy, please let me know.
