Ok so here's my little "rant of the week" if you will. I usually keep them to myself however why not...
Why can people not wake up and see what's around them? You can't turn on the TV or open a paper or magazine without seeing a story about anorexia, bulimia etc especially in teenagers like myself.
So how do we combat this? Well, recently it seems someone has taken the initiative and are purposing things like banning less than or equal to 0 size women from cat walks and shows etc...good idea? Yes. I don't pretend for a second it's an answer to any degree however being a teenager myself (all be it not female however remember this goes for both sexes, not just teenage girls as often the media makes out) i know how impressionable people of my age are...it's obvious...i even see changes in my own behavior from things i see or hear...it's not intentional but it happens.
So I'm walking past H&M in town the other day and what do i see? Shop windows, mannikins...who are stupidly thin. I don't mean good looking thin, the type of mannikins that makes you want to buy clothes because you think you will look good in those cloths because of the figure of the mannikins...no, i mean STUPIDLY thin. (i.e. some prat of company has decided to make an image of a "normal" person seem to have ribs sticking a mile out of their chest as they're so skinny).
How can people hope to at least tackle the problem if you let high street retailers such as H&M output such a message...I understand it's not the only reason for eating disorders, believe me i know a fair few people with them and frankly i put it 70% down to stress / low self esteem but it is a part of it for some people.
There, that's my little rant
I have one about why i now like David Cameron more and why the press need to trying to ruin peoples reputation if you want it lol.
