Hi guys,

I'm still working on some ideas for Links.com. My developer got ill, but hopefully I will have something up and going soon. In the meantime, what would be a current appraisal for the domain. Is the market for premium domains still strong, or has it suffered from the worldwide economic malaise? Thanks, as always, for your insights.

You are entitled to your opinion EGS..

Yes we are talking about undeveloped value, however let's look at the latest internext auction which was Jan 13th '09 for a comparison. Top 3 domain name sales:

MaturePorn.com $130,000
HotPorn.com $107,000
AdultDVDs.com $55,000

Based on these sales do you honestly still see links.com selling to an end user for less than $250k??! :bingo:
That's an entirely different niche. Those are true money-marking niches.
Links...well, they're not as hot as porn. Porn is one of the highest money-making niches in the world.

Hi all,

In the past, I did receive many six figure offers. I didn't pursue them, since Links.com is not for sale. However, the market probably has changed. I remember receiving six figure offers in 2000 before the market crash. Then it came back a few years later, and I began get substantially higher offers. My guess is that the current economy is having a similar effect on premium domain values. This will probably change again, once the economies around the world begin to expand.

I say park it with sedo.com and you could get a million within 7 weeks via bidders. If your ok with money? sell it in about 4 years not good time at the moment

I'd like to put a straight thought on the table...

Not less than 500K , even for a reseller! If It was mine, I would never sell for less than half a mil...

Beautiful domain! one of the best...

Good luck with it

Well, this time around, I think it's little different.

Negative - This Recession is much bigger and longer than 2000 and World Wide.
Further more, I think we are heading Depression caused by Govt. keep printing money.

Positive - You can NOT compare popularity of Internet between Current and 2000.
Another thing is that More advertisements are moving to Internet while everything else is going down big time.

So, you are in perfect position

holding seems to be the right option as of now

Good domain name, $XXX,XXX - best way to sell it is to put it to the auction with reserve price!

Great name! Would definately not sell for less than $300k. In these times it might be a better idea to develop it and sell it for 7-figures in a year or two. Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas. Yes, I think that for the time being, I will continue to concentrate on development, and look to Sedo and others in the future.

Agree, Fantastic domain!

Reseller Market: I would put at $75,000 - $100,000.

End-User: Minimum offer would start at $250,000

Although personally If i owned this domain I would certainly develop this in to either a Social Bookmarking service similar to StumbleUpon or another Social Network. Once developed with a name like "links.com" - it would be fairly easy to find an investor to market the site if required.

KEEP! And find a great developer; this domain is money in the bank. In fact, it's SAFER than the bank.

;)

I've seen this thread a few times now and even
though it makes sense to be "Links" internet related...

My first thought was what a great name for fences.... :red:
Which opens up another end-user target ;)

I have to say that anyone appraising this domain for lower than Mid $XXX,XXX range has something to learn about premium domains like this.

I have seen some appraisals for Mid $XX,XXX which is so low it is ridiculous.

Basket.com sold recently for $88K. Many people were saying how much of a steal that was for the buyer. This is in a completely different league than that.

lol. For sure, nowadays, no one wants to have an asset that is associated with a bank. :) lol. Thanks for you advice. I do intend to keep trying to develop the site as you suggest.

Rich
