Hi guys,

I'm still working on some ideas for Links.com. My developer got ill, but hopefully I will have something up and going soon. In the meantime, what would be a current appraisal for the domain. Is the market for premium domains still strong, or has it suffered from the worldwide economic malaise? Thanks, as always, for your insights.

Actually if this was my domain I would not even consider selling it unless the offer was in Mid $XXX,XXX range, and even at that price range I would have second thoughts about selling it. This is the type of domain that once sold cannot be replaced.

Agreed. I'd not sell this for anything less than mid $xxx, xxx either... and unless you're in desperate need of cash... I'd say hold it even if you're developing it right now. Premium names may not have been hit as badly by the financial situation around the world - but it has still affected everything imo - so now probably isn't the best time to be selling it anyway.

Congrats on owning such a nice name.

:)

Links.com could be a myspace type site linking people with one another, a shot url service, a link directory, a search engine, internet service, a site about golf..etc...

Easily worth $100,000....but I would try selling for $500,000 - $1,000,000 to a billion dollar corporation like Cisco. They own linksys networking equipment.

awesome name! This is one of the best cases of "hold" I have seen. I agree with the general sentiment above, low-mid xxx, xxx, but in this market that might be tough so it is a hold below that, depending of course on other situations in life.

Resell $100k-120k

i would say not as high as the highest estimates above but stratospheric potential.

Maybe a how to make a links site with...you guessed it...links.

or a master golf site. (Links).

Aggregated links could be insane or traffic.

Why weed thru Google when you can just nab a tasty set of links for this or that topic,

maybe users could have saved link batches by topic and social network their favorite links.

What about favorite or highest rated blogroll links?

e.g. the domainers links, the car buyers links, the fashionista linsk, the coupon clipper links, travel by train links etc. Disocutns for seniors links.

I don't think it's worth $xxx,xxx at all...maybe $xx,xxx to the right buyer...
But you should develop it into a social bookmarking site. That'd be the best bet.

Don't do a directory...unless it's really a premium one and you have staff that can really compete with DMOZ and higher-quality paid directories.

Links.de sold for $5,413 (Feb 2006)
EduLink.com sold for $23,850 (Dec 2006)
HobbyLink.com sold for $17,900 (Dec 2006)
HyperLinks.com sold for $17,000 (April 2008)

Easily worth $100,000, but I'd hold out for more.

I agree an easy low $xxx, xxx reseller - much more to a targeted end user.

Appraisals less than $250k for this domain are a joke! With some development and hard work you should be able to fetch 7 figures.

With proper development of any domain, 2-3-4-5-6-and up to 7 figures are possible. ;)
We're talking about the value of this domain undeveloped.

I see no large company that would be interested in this domain for 6-7 figures, that's why I based my appraisal on 5 figures to an end-user.

Thanks. I am working on some incremental ideas which I hope increase the value of the domain.

You are entitled to your opinion EGS..

Yes we are talking about undeveloped value, however let's look at the latest internext auction which was Jan 13th '09 for a comparison. Top 3 domain name sales:

MaturePorn.com $130,000
HotPorn.com $107,000
AdultDVDs.com $55,000

Based on these sales do you honestly still see links.com selling to an end user for less than $250k??! :bingo:
