status-resolved Limit number of posts by new users

I've reported many (hundreds?) of spam posts by new members. Often it's the same account posting multiple spam posts. Just now a new account had posted 6 spam posts in short succession. To reduce the spam, can we limit the number of posts new members can make in their first 24 hours?

Thank you for helping by reporting these issues.

We have an update scheduled that will eliminate 99% of this spam, but we may not be able to get to it for a couple more weeks because we just released a major infrastructure update that requires the full attention of our tech team until things are stabilized.

Our moderator teams will continue to address the spam issue manually until our tech team can improve our spam prevention technology.

To reduce the spam, can we limit the number of posts new members can make in their first 24 hours?

We already restrict the frequency that new members can post, but we might need to make it a little more strict.

You have a really good idea about making it even stricter in the first 24 hours. That could be a winning strategy.

Update: We just added a new spam prevention mechanism, based on your idea but slightly different. Let us know if that helps. We think it'll catch pretty much all of it from new accounts.

NP has gone downhill due to uncontrolled low quality newbie content posting. People hand reg crappy domains and try to sell it to domainers or asking dumb questions instead of reading to learn or use the search function.
I mostly check X, there is very little value on NP nowadays and action should be taken asap to improve the quality of the forum.

I avoid the sales threads, largely by viewing the "All Domain Discussions" link
