L-L-L dot com values?

What, if any, are the general values of a L-L-L dot com domains?

M-MS.com is a good example of one of these names that is used by a large corporation. (MMS.com is used by as well but M-MS.com is used for search engine traffic) These domains seperate the 3 letters of an acronym into two categories. This can be very useful for many sites but seperating three words into two categories usually not useful.

L-L-L domains however are very popular among a lot of developers as they seperate each letter and make it very clear that the domain is an acronym. L-LL.com and LL-L.com should receive a lot of attention soon as the supply of LLLL.com is running out. Premium letter LL-L.com and L-LL.com have a lot of potential (many available now) as an alternative for 4 character domain speculators. The letters are better quality and hence the probability of finding an enduser is probably higher depending on the domain.

I checked some of the LL-L and L-LL combinations last week, and registered these:

WA-R.COM
J-RK.COM
H-MO.COM
HM-O.COM

I like the way the dash looks like it's instead of an "E" in J-RK.com. As for the HMO variations, I couldn't resist.

I also was checking out N-N-N.com availability, and there are a bunch of those left as well. I registered:

2-0-6.COM (Seattle's area code)

It's amazing just how much traffic h-m-o.com is getting. I don't understand it. Search engines don't "see" the dashes... that helps for sure. But type in? I'm not complaining, though

I think it goes to show what the future might hold for these 3 letter dashers.

I just quickly scanned Allen's list of premium domains. There is only one left of each domain starting with A,B or C. (A-R-B.COM, B-L-D.COM, C-G-H.COM). Attached is a copy of the updated list.

Does anyone actually type with the hyphens? I find it quite difficult and unusual even when trying to do it? Makes me wonder why the average non-domainer would try it out.

Cultural Bias,

Those who are used to visiting a lot of sites with hyphens will be interested in domains with hyphens. Those who are not don't. Some types of business people like MLM are also a lot more interested in hyphens. Countries with different symbols that the normal 26 letter alphabet are also more familiar with hyphens.

I've had some arab traffic with some of my "--" domains. When I visited the 520 domains for potential sites there were many developed German and Asian sites.

Hyphens also often get priority over letters in directory positions.
(e.g. A-A.com ranked higher on directory than AA.com and hence more directory based traffic.)

It's at Parked, this last period I had 32 Uniques and 6 clicks. Counting April's earnings, another click or two and I'll have the domain paid for.

Not a cash cow, by any means, but enough to sustain itself in an arguably "unknown" character configuration.

As I said, I can't explain it, it just gets type-in.

It's kind of fun to speculate though

I had U-t-v.com get 1 unique 6 clicks at parked made $2.30 I-r-l gets traffic along with X-t-v again not a ton but enough to make it interesting . Plus if someone needs the domain it is good for SEO. H-M-O is excellent IMO plus I see Parked allowed it to be a 1 click lander
