I received a pm request to have this thread re-opened -- I don't see any reason not to. L-L-L investors, has the market performed as well as you expected (of course factoring in the obvious fact that pretty much all domain segments are known to have decreased in value since this post was started)?
i don't remember being asked, as the o/p

, kidding
my thoughts are the same as back in the beginning
L-L-L.com can achieve great enduser prices. we've seen 4.5k sales for the best ones, while watching the worst LLL.com plummet to the 3k mark
also, although LLLL.com is a varied and fascinating area, ranging from amazing 4 letter words and acronyms, to useful acronyms and brandables to absolute dross ('anti-premium' lol),
i would rather own a L-L-L.com all 'premium' for say $25, than pretty much anything else you can pick up for the same money in domaining
i have a nice stockpile and don't need anymore though before i get pms lol
hasn't been any reported L-L-L.com sales for a while on dnj though
if you're not greedy (which i have been :D) i think with work you can get great returns on these domains. i kid not when i say i have had more enquiries for L-L-L.com than any other type of domain. i have been pricing at 1.5k which i think is not what many want to hear. because i have sold a few in this range and top sales have gone for 3 times this i don't think unreasonable
although because of market conditions i think i may try the $500 - $1000 a domain approach, been thinking of a dedicated site for this type of domain for a while
make it easy for endusers. the low to medium business. if they're not willing to pay this for an ideal domain, whatever genre then, well.......
as we know, thousands of L-L-L.com are developed and the buyout has held, barring a few stragglers which get hoovered up reasonably quickly , the ones that aren't caught
as far as reseller value. it's low. as we know people are lowballing every section in domaining, and when there's steals everywhere, the offers are low.
these are holders, like all domains and it may take several years for the right enduser to come, but when their exact acronym is here in a .com, and many countries like germany have no probs with hyphens, and the pricing is fair, i think we'll see more and more sales
tbh, im thinking more and more lately we need to price our domains exactly. whether on sedo (fixed price) or on our sales platforms.
we wouldn't expect to haggle buying an ipod or a dvd online, i think fair exact pricing is the way to go
i have multitudes of projects on the go at any one time, like most of us, but plan to have something done soon in this area
