Interesting I always had a feeling they would still hold some ranking advantages.

To be honest now that I think about ii it would seem rather stupid if im looking for fried potatoes for that exact match keyword domain to not be in my results. I mean more people are technologically advanced these days and just enter the keyword and dot com in there phone or tablets browser.

Sadly, there are many exact match domains that rank nowhere.
It depends on your content, inbound links, competition, etc...

But, the research did find that: Keyword domains were able to hit #1 with half as much content...

So, if you do what you should do to make a good site, EMDs just make your work easier and / or more effective.

I have very rarely ever seen any of my exact domain based searches appear on the front page, i am saying as a rule the direct search for a specific url is flawed. Regardless of content the name should always appear at the top of the search, but they rarely do

EMDs still have the same rank value on Bing/Yahoo today that they did 5 years ago on Google.

Random info no one mentions. My Wordpress EMDs are on page 1 with little or no content to this day.

I have a site with 1 page very poor content that ranks first page bing. And it's hyphenated! EMD'S for bing are great! But then again who uses Bing? And I didn't mention it is a very, very high competition genre.
