Hi, congrats on your sale.
Could you share with me the names of the two companies that responded to you?
I am selling jethire (com) and leaseajet (com) and those leads might help.
Thanks

If you simply scroll up wwwweb posted a short treatise :xf.grin: on who the buyer was.

Thanks, I didn't realize that was the actual name of the buyer.
Was hoping to get the name of the other response too, as I have not had much luck with my own contacts.

Well, according to wwwweb, that was the buyer.

Congrats.
$500 is pocket change for virtually any decent sized company, so it was priced right. It's much easier to sell a name for $500, so his tactics might not be duplicated for a $50,000 name.

Had he sold it for $50K,most of the domainers would have felt jealousy not happiness for the seller. Sale is a sale, with impressive return . Congrats

Well no, I am a businessman. I not only would feel happy for him if he sold at the right price, but to be honest, if I owned any buy/sell/jet keyword domains I'd be annoyed right now that he crashed the comparables market by selling too low.

The right price isn't necessarily $50K but it's a lot higher than $500.

I recently sold a domain for low/mid five figures that I could have just as easily undersold that same name for only $500. or $1000.

You have to take it in the context of this business, they sell a jet for anywhere from $1M-$5M, they maybe take a 5% commission on that, even more given the conditions of the sale.

$500 is like kit kat money when it comes to the private jet industry, This is a big boy space, but maybe it was only worth $500 to them, and newbie domainers learn thru their mistakes. this 2037% whatever, basically deflates down to $400 in a real world market perspective.

Then again he did knock on their door at the same time, they weren't coming him asking him about it, maybe for $500 they were willing to take a redirect chance, otherwise so be it.

Maybe OP did something wrong with percentage. I mean, maybe he sell 2073 x 23. Not 2073% from 23$

You might be right. I approached the same company just now and they would only pay 400, because that is what they paid to buy "sell my...".
On the other hand, they did say that leasing only represented 6% of aircraft transactions, so I guess a leasing domain wasn't of much value to them.

Xy has a valid point then that when people sell so low, it kind of ruins the market. They are using that sale as an indicator.

Sure leasing might be 6%, but if we are talking tens of millions of dollars, that is another calculation.

Yeah, I was going to look up how much the market was worth and calculate 6%, because I am sure it is an enormous sum, but I didn't think it was worth arguing with him over.

This is really good conversation about the sale . I did leave money on the table and it is a lesson learned however right now it is about cash flow as long I am not loosing money . Perhaps , I could have waited a week, a month , a year , or 5 years to make that "big" sale but financial situation always dictates .

Thanks again for the conversation .

This is a good point in negotiating. Provide comparables of the market however as I said financial situation will dictate my urgency .

There is nothing on the market that will give me 2000% return or more within 30 days .

Though I am not buying domains actively now, but I would surely want to look at your portfolio :)
Just a pm away !

Yes, domaining is very capital intense, and cash crunches with new purchases, and renewals keep everyone on their toes for sure.

You made money, now talk some off the table, reinvest the rest, and try to duplicate it. There will be dead inventory along the way that never sells, just goes with the business, so this is why you need to have intense margins, as you will find new inventory is very costly these days.
