Just received this email regarding one of my domains and ...

I am the SEO working on behalf of my client, Stephen XXXXX, the owner of XXXXXX.com . I am assisting him in the recovery from a Google penalty. I am requesting that this link be removed at your very earliest opportunity. MajesticSEO shows your site as a referring domain to XXXXXXX.com.

I do appreciate that you may have a full schedule and limited resources, at the same time, your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. If you need any additional information from me, please reply to my email.

And thats it. The domain they were referring to was close, but not exactly the domain I have..could have been a typo.

I just got the domain a week or so ago.

So what should I do?

Thanks...ICE,,,BS, ok. No problem with that, but ,by the way, how exactly does one remove a "referring link"? Shoot, lol, I bought this freakin' domain at ebay a week ago for 27 cents. Now I am supposed to do what?

Well, they are probably doing SEO for someone and getting links removed. They want you to remove links from "your site" which are hurting their ranking in Google.... Most likely, you bought a name that use to be a bookmarking site or something... A "Link Farm" basically.....

You can't remove anything... The site is no longer active...

Agree with IceDude. You cannot remove anything, since presumably you didn't inherit the hosting for this domain after you bought it. Is it banned by Google? If yes, I'd delete it. No need to reply to the email unless they email you again.

Are they looking at a cached site ? Good to find out if the domain is banned, could be why it was only 27 cents
