I just received an email asking me how much I would like to sell my comicworld.us domain from someone from eliteinvestments dot net. This is the first email I've ever received for one of my domains. Anyone familiar with this company or have received emails from them for their domains?

What do you think comicworld.us is worth?

Appreciate any answers so I know how to proceed with this email I got.

Well considering that eliteinvestments.net leads to a sedo parking page, I wouldn't be too optimistic about this. A lot of scammers email people about their domain names, but then they want you to get an appraisal first, and then they'll direct you to the one and only appraisal company that they trust. Of course they will then scam you for about $70 for the appraisal and then you never hear from them again.

As for a price I think the Estibot valuation is fair. Maybe you can suggest $300 or $400. If they ask for an appraisal then you know its a scam.

Ah thanks. I was wrong. Just checked the email again and it is
eliteinvestment dot net ... not the plural, but the site is talking about stock investments ... not domain investments. Thanks for your input.

Bobbie, I'd say its a scam. Do a google search for 'eliteinvestment.net' and 'scam'. I came across this thread http://www.ddth.com/showthread.php?p=1257964 with this email:

That's a pretty standard scam email. Next they'll ask you for the appraisal.

Here's you some confirmation (I did a google search and found this thread so I figured I'd chime in):

2nd email (you're gonna love this! lol):
Can you accept 15,000 USD for the following domains (package deal)?:

FOREXPEDITE.INFO
FOREXECUTE.INTO
BESTFOREXTRADER.INFO
FOREXTRADERTODAY.INFO

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It's very important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies.

Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:
http://domainblog.007sites.com/Archive/419685.htm

If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15% discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

Looking forward to your reply.

What's more funny is that in my reply to their first email, I informed them of the fact that I also had Forexpedite.COM

So my reply back was "You mean you aren't interested in the .com domain?"

I guess I'll probably not get an answer to that one.

Real Identity of Scammer...

George Spellwin, well-known scammer in the bodybuilding community, has recycled this old, domain appraisal scam.

Header information matches the mail server/IP used to send newsletters to Platinum members of his forum. I never changed my newsletter preference after paying for access to his worthless bodybuilding site. I happened to open a newsletter immediately before reading the domain scam email.

Let this clown, who also peddles an ebook titled "Guide to Getting Laid", know that you're not fooled by his persistent online scams...paste the domain inquiry message you received into an email for George - send it to his personal email address: [email protected]

I just got the same e-mail today. I knew something was wrong when the counter offer was 10x my first offer? Which was high to start with.
