Just got a letter from AdSense... Compliance question

I just got an email from Adsense stating that my website, GoPC.com is not compliant with the TOS of Adsense...

The specifically mentioned this:

"Publishers are not permitted to encourage users to click on Google ads or bring excessive attention to ad units. For example, your site cannot contain phrases such as "click the ads," "support our sponsors," "visit these recommended links," or other similar language that could apply to the Google ads on your site. Publishers may not use arrows or other symbols to direct attention to the ads on their sites, and publishers may not label the Google ads with text other than "sponsored links" or "advertisements." "

Now, I've poured over my site and cannot see anyplace that I am in violation of this.

Sometimes a 2nd set of eyes can catch things the first set cannot.

Can anyone see what I'm missing?

PLEASE help... they've given me 72 hours to comply.

Remove the "Sponsored Links" part, and ask them to review the site again.

You also have images above the AdSense blocks, but last I heard this was OK.

You put a heading "Sponsored Links" against TOS. Afaik, images above the ad blocks are fine. I suggest you remove that text and reply to their email telling them what you did. Then ask them if they see any more problems.

Goodluck,

This is acceptable as they state in the letter above.

Thanks but the TOS and the section of the letter I posted here both say:

"publishers may not label the Google ads with text OTHER THAN "sponsored links" or "advertisements."

I read that to say that "sponsored links" is within the TOS and even recommended.

I did find one page that had "Sponsored GoPC Links" written there... I removed the GoPC part from it so now it just says sponsored links.

Is there a way to TALK to someone there and have them point out what the issue is?

It may seem picky but you have a page icon thingy where it says "sponsored links". I realize this is probably part of page styling but it is a symbol not used on much of the other content. Maybe google is concerned about this?

Interesting... the google letter does mention something about arrows and symbols.

Good catch. I'll pull them too :)

Thanks!!!

While it may be next to impossible thing to talk to any body at adsense/google, your best bet is to write them a very nice email indicating what actions you took and also indicating your readiness to make changes if they find any other problems. I believe you will receive a reply and this time more specific if any.

This is just a suggestion, but I would remove "Sponsored Links" anyway.. even if it is not against the TOS. Especially in the middle-bottom column. It will be better for click-thru rates.

Also.. you can remove the "Advertise on this Site" from your adsense ads from your adsense control panel. Makes the ads blend better. Unless you just like that advertisement for google. It takes about 24 hours for it to remove itself once you do it, so don't think you've done something wrong if it doesn't come off right away.

Best of luck.

I did send a note stating that I have gone over evertying that I coud find and if I had missed something, I was ready and willing to rectify it.

Then, after reading a post above... I took the little icons of the piece of paper off the site in front of the line that reads "sponsored links" and I almost immediately got the following:

"Thanks for making the requested changes to your account in order to comply
with our policies.

Sincerely,

Sandor
The Google AdSense Team"

I guess that was it. Odd.

Anyway, it seems cool now.

Side Note/Question - You really think the ads work better if there is no reference to sponsored links? I guess I kinda thought that the ads HAD to say something.... Perhpas not.

Cool, I am glad that it is resolved in a nice way. Make sure you save that email correspondence.
