It's got to be :kickass: to be in control of all that hardware, very valuable experiance as well.
it has its up and has its down. its a business standard windows 2003 network with windows xp / windows mobile throughout the campus.
but when you give kids to £1000 worth of laptop to use and it comes back todays later broken because they havent taken care of it, it puts a real downer on the job. but its good to get to play with all this hardware. i have learnt an awful lot from the job. its what gave me the boost to get into the web design / hosting area.
its just the pay sucks. i could go into the city (london) and earn double what im on now but i dont want to travel into the city on a train at 6am to get to work for 9am, the job i am in now is nice and local and i work with some good people.
its also challenging at times, ie at last spring break we deployed 180 pcs (desks as well) with cabling, monitors, patching, switches etc in under 4 days.

every teacher there has his own pda?
nope. close but not quiet, theres one pda for staff to use the rest go to the kids instead of having a homework jounral they have a pda and can do small peices of work on them as log their homework etc
they then take them home of a night time to use to do there home work etc they all have access to the internet when onsite as do all our pc's every member of staff though has there own laptops
all pdas are dell, pcs are from a company called 4Front technology and all laptops are from toshiba.
check it out if you want www. thecampus.org.uk

really depends if the school is up to date or not when it comes to technology. If the computers are old 386 machines and the pda's are old Palm Zire producs I'm sure it can be somewhat of a pain from time to time
our oldest laptops are just over 2 years old
our pcs are 6 months old
half our pdas are almost 1 year old
the other half are due onsite in the next week
