Is it considered spam to politely e-mail someone from their WhoIs information who you think might be interested in a domain I have.

Simply telling them it's for sale, I thought they'd might like to know. apologize for their time if they have no interest, wish them a pleasant day and never bother them again unless they contact me back about it.

Is that considered spam?

you need to have a good alibi to email them but if you send it w/o copy/paste and with your personal info like name, address as footer and telling them it's not a mailing list but just one time mailing then could be good.

I don't consider it spam because it's not like your emailing it to just random people.

I would send it to a few people and see what kind of a response you are getting. If it's negative replys, then I would change your wording around.

Good luck. :)

I often send letters by snail-mail these days. They look more impressive and are usually considered less intrusive than unsollicited E-mail :gl:

I don't consider it as spam

I've sent a few and usually get a decent reply, just make it as short & polite as you can.

While these emails may not be technically considered as spam, they will still find their way into my junk mail folder (and/or I'll click the "report spam" link in Gmail) unless you actually do some research and make your offer relevant. A simple "Hi, I notice you have foo.com, I own foo.bar and would be willing to sell it to you for $xx" is definitely going to be binned straight away.

I have received too many form letters from fellow domainers, offering to sell me obscure ccTLD versions of some of my parked domains. Now, if my existing domain is parked, you want to be showing me some good, verifiable traffic stats before I am going to consider buying and parking another extension.

If your domain is truly relevant to my business and you show that you have done a minimum of research (beyond scanning my whois) then I will read what you have to say and may even consider your offer. But to date not one of the emails I have received offering to sell me domains meets this criteria.
