Contacting a potential buyer through whois e-mail? Can it be considered as SPAM?

Hey.

As a part of my search for potential buyers, I'm taking few similar domains and looking their whois info.

I then take their e-mail addresses and send them all an e-mail regarding the sale of my domain.

Can it be considered as spam?
Do you think it's useful?

Thanks!

Sure, I do it all the time. As long as your domains have a clear use so you can target potential end users then it works well.

Just keep the email short and relevant. They don't need a 2 page sales pitch.

Alright, thanks!

Do you just go and copy each e-mail address and send the e-mails one by one?

I customize each email. It is time consuming, but it is the most effective way to do it.

make sure you send it personalized and not mass and don't run some automated tool of harvesting whois email.

Why? If there's a tool that does that but send them each individually why would there be anything wrong?

Could be a good idea using such a script...

one that i use to send out personalized email is worldcast from fairlogic.com they're the best, the email harvesters are for spamming so i don't recommend it.

I will also usually try to find an email address on the actual site. Those emails are used more often than the email in the whois information.
