To invest in for resale? How long are you going to hold? Nope. Not a good investment. There are better alternatives out there.

.Net has been around for about thirty years and has acceptance as an alternative to the .COM. However, small businesses and developers which choose a .Net do so because they don't want to pay the higher pricetag of the .COM. At one time I had more than 600 .Nets but have dropped probably 80% of those. Some that I dropped were picked up and developed on - particularly the ones where I still own the .COM. I do sell .Net domains but I have found it rather difficult to sell .Net for much more than low $xxx. Of course if an extension which has been around for THIRTY (30) years is difficult to sell for much more than $XXX, imagine how difficult it will be selling nTLDs for much more than that (not saying impossible, just saying be realistic with your pricing on new TLDs or you will get stuck with a lot of renewals).

I like:

1. Generic one-word .NET
2. Two - three letter .NET
3. Two - four number .NET
4. Two (and if it make sense, three) character (numbers and letters combined) .NET

Apart form that, no, not really. I own Datingclub .net and even if "Datingclub" is taken in 43 extensions and the domain is 17 years old, it seems impossible to get a low $XXX for it.

With every new .horse $#%* zone introduced every day value of .com and .net is growing.

2-3 letter .net and soon you can add 4 letter .net, with Chinese LLLL.net already trading at $35-40 and other good ones are selling it's new reality.

They not selling for much, it's true, but still more then regfee is profit.

On eBay more than 50% LLLL.net listed were sold in last few months, knowing that usually very small % domains listed selling there it's very good score.

I almost agree with you but I thing only .com value growing when so much .horse $#%* zones introduced, as .net and other old extensions like .info/biz/ becomes also one of this "second choose" domains for poors and magic believers and the true that 99% of companies with good reputation uses .com or their local national extension, everything remaining is just kid games.

Of course .com is the king, but there's big separation between .net and the rest of the pack.

.net sales equals or maybe more than all .biz/.info and the others combined.

Some names in .net sound better than in .com
Fresh example is name TERA.net that is selling at the Namepros auction right now with $550 bid.
TERA.net sounds better than TERA.com.
