opinion Is it time to sell, buy or hold LLLL.coms?

Seeing the recent rise in values of LLLL.com domains, here is a question that I think some of the others would also be having :

Is it the right time to flip your already owned LLLL.com at this price?
Or
Hold it for future so as to have a higher ROI?
Or
Buy it at this price because you think it is going to sell for even higher prices in the near or far future?

Your opinions about their pricing lately??

Today's "crap" can very easily be tomorrow's treasure especially when a market has so little available stock and so many blind followers.

I am still seeing a bubble taking shape, that is also driven by domainers. They tend to be followers, and thus they amplify the action. In a bubble scenario the trick is to liquidate positions soon enough.

Years ago LLL.us domains were selling for $$$, .mobi domains too. Now you can hardly sell them.
Even the cherished buyout no longer holds nowadays.

When previously junk domains become premium overnight, it is a sign the market is not being rational, or it is the players.
WELL said

Check out LLLLsales.com. (created by a NP member)

This is the best database to explore sales data. There are lots of ways to sort sales, including the new Chinese premium checkbox :)

There will always be ups and downs, however the trends are mostly upwards in price

Its time to sell the "chinese" 4L :lookaround:

Hold not just for domainers, but for end users.

Exactly......this is what I have always done, never sold to a domainer ever and have always got great prices as below:

cbdo.com for $4000 - Aug 12th 2015
(Private thru Escrow.com)

wswu.com for $1500 - May 19th 2015
(Sedo.com)

bmaq.com for $3000 - Aug 18th 2014
(Private thru Escrow.com)

waqu.com for $5500 - Apr 13th 2012
(Private thru Escrow.com)

wtru.com for $4490 - Sep 19th 2006
(Sedo.com)

Still have around 150 LLLL.com's and I'll be holding.........

once we the LLLL flippers run out of supplies, expect price rise even more.
I think this is what we are starting to see now, with minimum prices for Chinese premium LLLL.com now topping $1000.

I can't imagine that ordinary domainers (like us, or our Chinese counterparts) are buying these domains. The price point is prohibitive for pure speculation, especially on the average domainer's budget. Domainer frenzy (ie the blind following the blind) may have explained the dramatic 2007 price hike, around the time of the buyout. But cannot explain this one.

Who is buying these domains now? The answer to that question will shed a lot of light on where prices are most likely to go from here.

It's definitely domainer driven.

Domainers are paying these prices; check the threads of any 4L auction here. I just saw one for $900+, nothing special about it besides the fact that they considered it a 'premium pinyin domain'.

I offloaded mine a few months ago at $300 - $500 each. Those buyers now need to either hold or make a profit, in most cases it's to make a profit... so the prices rise... then those buyers need to either hold or make a profit... and so the prices rise...

If I'm buying a domain at $900 you better be darn sure I'm expecting some kind of $10k+ return at the least.

The thing is... there isn't much end user buying going on, and if there is they are paying a small margin more than what the current prices are.

It's a bit fishy when you can pick up a 4L with a vowel for $100, but one without is $900, the expense is disproportionate to the volume. Don't get me wrong, I 'get' where all this is coming from, but when the flipping stops and the end user sales don't support the buys... it's going to be a rude awakening.

I know it's not what 4L people want to hear, but it is my opinion - right or wrong.

I'm totally agree with you. In 4L sale huge risk is involved but its risk which every domainer willing to take. Like Domainers did in 3L.

I'm not convinced that what's happening here at namepros is indicative of what's happening in the larger market. I think you are seeing domainers following the trend. But I'm not sure they started the trend or are the main force keeping it going. All the emails that are going to holders of Chinese premium LLLL.coms are from Chinese buyers who are looking to vacuum them up in large quantities. I believe most of the sales being reported on LLLLsales.com are also from Chinese buyers. Maybe these are just our Chinese domainer counterparts, but maybe not. Maybe there is a bigger play being made. Until we can establish who is buying them, not here on namepros but out there in the larger market, we won't really know whether this is just a bubble that is going to burst or a true, sustainable, market shift.

When people talk about China, they just talk about China and don't usually reference that it's just a group of 1,400,000,000 people. I referenced this in a 6N thread... But when you consider the size of the audience, the supply of 4L is still very small.

I offloaded mine a few months ago at $300 - $500 each. Those buyers now need to either hold or make a profit, in most cases it's to make a profit... so the prices rise... then those buyers need to either hold or make a profit... and so the prices rise...

This is sorta 6 of one and half dozen of another. If you sold them and then were able to put that money into something that you feel will rise in value at an equally high rate as you've seen before, then you've done well. That's the name of the buy low, sell high game.

Is it just $900 for a single name that you expect 1000% return? Or is it just anytime you invest $900 in anything, be it one or a group of names you expect 1000% return? ;)

When I get an offer on a name, I weigh the offer against what I would do with the money. Is the offer worth taking the time find something else to re-invest -- can I find something that's a good enough deal to make it worth while. If I can't answer yes, I tend to not do the deal... Unless I'm looking to splurge on something, which has happened. ;)

Simply because there are 3 options: Prices continue going up, prices stabilize, or prices go down. 2/3 those options don't make me money.

One has to assess the likelihood of each scenario.

If you have 5+ then sell few and save few ;)

Let's all take into consideration the law of supply and demand here. Demand is rising while supply has and will remain constant for all time and eternity.

On Godaddy, there is only ~230 chinese premiums left, where BIN price is lower than $2K
two days ago there was ~270 of them.
