Is it ok to go with GoDaddy hosting, or is there much better deals out there?

I am thinking about trying to put so simple content on some sites and trying to monetize them using a PPC service from some where like google or yahoo.

All my domains are registered with Godaddy, is their hosting ok?

Or better yet is their hosting so bad that I should complicate things by going with someone else?

Thanks.

Well personally I wouldn't go with godaddy. I usually just buy domains there. (I once read that you shouldn't but hosting where you buy your domains) I would go to hostgator or bluehost. If you need reviews on web hosts, go to WebHostingJury.com
Hope this helped!

Godaddy hosting is "ok", but I would not go with their free hosting unless you have no money. Find a host like Lacehost.com ($2/month) that offers full-featured hosting, the ability to have many "add-on" domains, and low cost. Godaddy's hosting works, but their accounts leave a lot to be desired like their stats are just awful, but better than nothing.

In generall I would not host with where your domain is registered since if there is a problem with the hosting they can keep you for moving your site. If your registrar is separate, you can always move your site to someone else. But with a big company like Godaddy you should not have to worry to much.

I would not host my website with GoDaddy. Find one of these hosting companies that are specialized in providing hosting to you, HostDime for example.

No way. I would never register a domain with a hosting company, or host a domain with a registrar.

I agree with all above, don't host with GD, I think their hosting package sucks!. I use Bluehost, you can have up to 6 add on domains, and their hosting package is much better and cheaper, look at 1 on 1 as well.

I asked my officemate whose site is hosted by Godaddy. He said "he is satisfied with GD."

if you only need basic static pages and basic hosting, godaddy's hosting is ok, after all why go to others if all your are registered with them.

but there are far much better hosting features out there that you're gonna missed out.

With all the hosting companies out there GoDaddy just does not offer what others do. There are some hosting co.s that offer "unlimited domains" for a low monthly fee (less than $10 per month ) that would be great for a simple site like you mentioned. They all offer somthing diffrent from free domain names to website builders. Just do a little homework and find some reviews and your sure to find somthing thats a better value than GoDaddy.

hmm, sounds like your officemate has no clue about hosting.

The basic analytics you get with GD are garbage. The up-time and reliability is fine.

I've had better and worse.

I've been satisfied with my Godaddy Dedicated server. No down time to speak of and managing dns is easy. Just make sure you get enough RAM wherever you go.

Yeah, I noticed that a lot of the lower-priced web hosts out there limit the amount of domain names that you can get.

This leads me to ask the obvious question. Would you go with a more expensive host that allows for unlimited domain names, or a less expensive host that caps you at less than a dozen domain names?

It depends on your needs, I have a site that needs a dedicated server because of traffic and usage. I have other sites that I can pile on to reseller accounts.

Yeah I started this thread and found out quickly godaddy was a bad idea.

Currently I am decideding between apthost and fused hosting.

I like fusedhosting because of the personal connections it has to these boards and good reviews.

I like apthost because their lowest level has unlimited add-ons for me to dadbble with and good reviews.

Decisions, decisions.

I have never used GD hosting but the thing that i live by in the domaining/hosting world is, "Never host your websites where you buy your domain and never buy your domain where you host your websites."

I've never used either of those. You'll have to report back with a review.

Generally I would agree for a 'serious' site I would never host it with the registrar, however if you're trying ideas out why not just use the godaddy free hosting until you know where you're going.
