Hi,
Not sure if the question is quite forum related, because I couldn't find much about DNS servers around here, but here it goes.

I usually use private nameservers, actually those which come by default with my hosting company.

What I did is that I set godaddy DNS servers for one of my websites, and I also did it with namecheap for the other one.

What is your opinion/experience about which DNS is better to use from the aspect of stability (downtime), speed etc...

You're really asking for which "hosting" company is better in terms of stability, speed, downtime etc.. Propogating domain name servers is just asking your domain registrar to point your domain to your hosting company.

Do a search on this forum to find the best hosting provider that suits your need!

I personally use hostgator myself!

^ avoid hosting your dns with your hosting provider!! For the same reason you don't get your domain from your host even if it's free..

The main thing to consider when it comes down to dns is you want to have redundancy. Check the IP's of all of your DNS servers. Are they all pointing to the same server??! That's garbage!!

If you want to take it a step further, then you'd be looking at geographically redundant DNS. Which is when you have multiple DNS servers in different geographical locations.

Thanks VC,
Redundancy is exactly what I was looking for. Nice idea to check IP addresses. I know that payed DNS (which brings clients geographically close to the source DNS) is the best option.

I do agree that DNS hosting with hosting company is bad idea (some would say even from the aspect of SEO if you're trying to do interlinking), but I am still not sure, which is better Namecheap DNS or GoDaddy's.
Have anyone around here had any troubles with GoDaddy's NS.

I've used Hostgator for everything for all of my clients and customers. I would recommend them for anything.

This survey could help you decide for yourself which Registrars are worthusing.

http://domainnamewire.com/2012/02/23/survey-says-godaddy-is-top-domain-registrar/

You have to ask yourself this question.
"Am I willing to put my business in the hands of a company that does not offer telephone tech support".

GoDaddy is available around the clock.
NameCheap doesn't even have telephone support.

If you are looking for price only then NameSilo is the company you want to do business with.

If you are a large domainer then you might consider others like Fabulous or Moniker.

It's your money, but service with GoDaddy really doesn't cost you more, in fact it could cost you a lot less as your portfolio goes.

Don't Get suckered in to some one off low price single registration, you'll pay for it on the backend.
