Is income on generics generally solid?

Hi-- I'm considering making a purchase on a pretty high-end generic and wondering-- how solidly do these things perform? If it made $10,000 this year (for example), does that mean it also made $10,000 the last and also the next? how solid are they in terms of income sources?
