I often see people willing to pay 6-12 months revenue for domains making money, but many people fail to discount this in relation to a strong solid domain as well.

ie)

ABC.com making $1 per day, doesn't mean the domain is worth $365 at 12 months revenue

maybe

allbearscare.com making $1 per day would be up for discussion for $365 just as an example...

where do you draw the line, as I have had a few users offer on some of my more solid domains, making PPC revenue, but they just want to pay x revenue, and discount the keyword strength of the domain. how to get around this? seems obvious yet its not that simple, when trying to explain it lol

Well, if the domain is good and you feel it has way more potential, you shouldnt sell it based on current revenue.

And where you draw the line depends on each specific domain. How good it really is etc...

Its a hard question without a overall answer... it all depend on how good the domain is.

Tell them that revenue is only part of the equation, but that since the domain has serious end-user potential (assuming it does) that you are building that into the price. As long as it's a reasonable amount...the buyer can't argue. They can only walk away.

A good domain with consistent revenue can command up to, and sometimes over, 36 months revenue. If I had to do it over again, I would accumulate nothing but decent keyword revenue domains . . . anything from 50 cents per day and up.

Revenue producing domains are a business, like any other.

If you bought a company listed on a Stock Exchange, you'd expect to pay between 10 and 16 times annual earnings (ie net earnings before (loan) interest, depreciation & tax) for it.

Why should domains be any different?

That'd make your $1 per day domain worth a minimum of $365 x 10 = $3,650, less the cost of running it (if any).

A good domain that not only pays its rent but is worth something on its own and is guaranteed to be worth something after the two years of revenue have paid themselves off is always worth more. Whether you can find a buyer intelligent enough to pay you properly is a different story.
