man they just dont stop at being bad...

transfered some names under promo...then boom out of blue I get renewal invoice for one of them..get this..while it still has 1yr til expiry ..

there goes 1hr on fine to fix it... of course the rep insisted it's ok...no error..she told me word for word with her baby crying in filipinian in background..
"sir when u transfer dn to new registrar prev expiry is reset..its like brand new reg"

yea.
no comment..

then boom if that's not enuf...tried to transfr out a 5day expired name..which I done many times.. cause they got this 10day grace
... but I forgot to unlock it b4 it expired.. so I email..and the guy says..its icann policy to lock all expired names on day minusone and force renewal b4 transfr out.

poor poor ionos.. how low can one sink

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
they basically charged me to renew a .co which had 3 years til expiry..and auto renew off.
In the past they didn't consider WHOIS dates at all.
They bill for duration your domains reside under their management, regardless of WHOIS. Yearly in other words.
How it is nowadays - I can't say, such cases don't happen with me.

I check everything in my life.

Regarding their automatic billing - I already answered.
If any quests or issues - email to billing or solutions.
For me it works almost perfectly.

Congrats

You just saved over a thousand on renewals.

Would be great if you could rephrase the headline on this post.

hahaha..well no.. the thread is still about what first post says...and I cant delete that.

what's happening is were all being offtopic with promo talks..

but its ok cause it's my thread ;p

i am considering transferring some .COs to them right now because it is $2. there is already a year and a bit of registration left on the domains.

did IONOS end up reinstating the pre-existing duration of registration? or what happened?

i dont want to lose what ive already paid for :/

Guys, can you check from your account at IONOS if transferring page https://shop.ionos.com/transfercheck working properly ? Try to enter any domains in .COM/.NET, etc - after pressing "TRANSFER" button - the page simply reloading and that's all. Do you also have the same issue?

Does IONOS representatives exisiting on this forum?

Thanks

Their invoice system is do dumb, their support is horrible too, they kept some of my domains and put them up for sale because of some invoicing issues where the system lagged behind, what a scam.

Never used them. But continuously I read complaints from their customers. And yes, I don't want complexity and issues while doing business.
So continue to read...
Why to post such statements without any experience???

1and1 and Sedo are 2 daughters of the same parents.

I edited my comment. But still I hesitate to use them because of the tons of negative reviews. Not only here, everywhere.

I have used them once ages ago. Wanted to use them again recently because of cheap prices, but I do not want the hassle either. Almost impossible to get a rep on the phone because I am outside the USA, so I chose to stay away. IONOS is probably decent for US citizens and if they had an international toll free number...

Well, support is crucial factor for me. Porkbun and Dynadot give me that. Even GoDaddy. I don't have a reason to change. And keep in mind that time is also money.
They have a Dedicated support.
They reply to my emails within minutes/hours even on weekends.
+ they offer callback.

Don't change anything. Stay where you are.
Just don't post anything without long experience.
And that's all.

well apparently the bug is still there.. luckily it didnt happen for all my domains.

no registrar has the right to renew domain that is not expiring soon. it's not called renewal then. and probably against icann rules.

either way it's clearly a bug.. even after the charge my domain was not extended anyway.

Ask their Billing team.
I never play with domains, where many years ahead already.

I mean, that I never transfer to 1and1 such domains (where renewal is not needed, where already 1 or more years ahead).

I had up to 20 in the past.
And 1 for last few years.
Per mid X,XXX domains volume.
All wrong invoices were fixed by their Billing team.

how much did you pay for transferring all 60?

It would have been $1 per domain at the current promo, so $60.
Most other registrars charge about $20 and up for renewal or transfer of this extension.

thanks for the info!

~20 -- i know cuz i recently spent a couple hundred dollars transferring shortly after having my own difficulties with ionos :( fucking expensive renewals.
