ionos 1and1 just keeps on being bad

man they just dont stop at being bad...

transfered some names under promo...then boom out of blue I get renewal invoice for one of them..get this..while it still has 1yr til expiry ..

there goes 1hr on fine to fix it... of course the rep insisted it's ok...no error..she told me word for word with her baby crying in filipinian in background..

then boom if that's not enuf...tried to transfr out a 5day expired name..which I done many times.. cause they got this 10day grace
... but I forgot to unlock it b4 it expired.. so I email..and the guy says..its icann policy to lock all expired names on day minusone and force renewal b4 transfr out.

poor poor ionos.. how low can one sink

I have used them once ages ago. Wanted to use them again recently because of cheap prices, but I do not want the hassle either. Almost impossible to get a rep on the phone because I am outside the USA, so I chose to stay away. IONOS is probably decent for US citizens and if they had an international toll free number...

If you search around a bit, there is a support chat feature on the site. I think I had to actually log out to use it (?) This was a few months ago, so it may have changed in the mean time.

I found that the support staff were very friendly and helpful.

Guys, can you check from your account at IONOS if transferring page https://shop.ionos.com/transfercheck working properly ? Try to enter any domains in .COM/.NET, etc - after pressing "TRANSFER" button - the page simply reloading and that's all. Do you also have the same issue?

Does IONOS representatives exisiting on this forum?

Just tried, works for me in Chromium 91.
And last quarter I transferred-in XX domains without issues.

No representatives on NP.
Their primary business - webhosting, and primary focus - endusers.

I transferred XX doms to them recently.

Given that you can transfer some extensions to them for a few dollars where other registrars charge XX dollars to renew the same name, I think it's a good deal if you have a lot of alternate extensions that are costing a fortune in renewals.

Sometimes the transfer page doesn't accept names properly, so I just left it for a few days and tried again. I also had a bit of an issue with confirming org names ownership, but I contacted support and got it sorted.

Stay with another registrars definitely.
The less domainers use 1and1 - the longer their promos are active.

Never used them. But continuously I read complaints from their customers. And yes, I don't want complexity and issues while doing business.

i know you can call them online via free VOIP services, which is what i did, but such services are very unrealiable and limited to a handful of minutes at a time :/

alright.. takes a while especially on stupid fone... but I just finished transferring 60 .co

which basically is all remaining co i had across other registrars.. minus the 15 or so prem I own.. so yeah..everything working good.. go do it.guys..u will never in yer entire life get better co trnasfer deal anywhere. guaranteed.

cause better than 1usd is free... and nothing free.in this world..except punch to the face hahaha

It would have been $1 per domain at the current promo, so $60.
Most other registrars charge about $20 and up for renewal or transfer of this extension.

It's strange, but most .CO domains cannot be transferred, but some can.

I checked their transfer at this link:
https://www.ionos.com/domains/domain-transfer

Examples of domains that can be transferred:
google.co, tlds.co

These domains cannot be transferred:
flower.co, bank.co, gangster.co, damage.co, weather.co, sport.co, news.co, etc...

By the way their .CO transfer is now $1.00

Any premium in any TLD can't be transferred to 1and1.

Just clear your cache, cookies and restart browser.
A few days are not needed in 99% of such cases.

1and1 is not for everyone, it is for experienced domainers only.

+ 1and1 a few years ago and current 1and1 are 2 different stories.
During last few years I had the only 1 improperly billed domain there.

not all registrars do it but ionos pays foreigners at home to take calls.

I find them less than knowledge...and basically talk to some Filipino girl with baby crying in background each time I call.

luckily it's not often.. but... maybe 5 times in my 5 years there I had to..because they.charged extra.money on bill... u need to carefully keep track of yer Bills.

last time it happened it was 40usd extra... and they denied it on fone.. took me 1h to.explain..

they basically charged me to renew a .co which had 3 years til expiry..and auto renew off.

not to.mention even after charging it didnt get renewed per se.. but that's beside the point. which is that u do.not auto renew domains that expire in years.

it's clear this registear is not 1st choice for domainers.. let's all be honest the moment their prices on some tld..co..info..are gone..they will have 70percent less clients... or at least domains

for now.anyway we look at it.. 1$ co transfers are unbeatable and basically unheard of

also they should go easier on deadlines for.exp.names..to renew and trnasfer out..now it's way below avg.

so that's my 5yr 5cent on ionos 1and1
