Is it just me or did someone make out with a $500k domain for really good bargain?

How much do you think this domain is worth? I honestly believe it's worth a minimum of $500k but could go for even as much as 7 figures.

I mean $16K?? Even Lending.club sold for $25k last week lol...

An investor must have bought it but I don't see it going over 100K $ for an end user.

The extension isn't good enough..

The extension isn't good enough..

The extension is perfect for a large org in the finance investments industry or even a for-profit looking to start a supporting org / offshoot. Imagine Goldman Sachs....could definitely sell over $150k, but that's JMO

Not many .org names worth that much

Poker.org sold for a million dollars and then after that, the next highest ever report was Engineering.org for 198k

I dont think Investment really suits the .org extension, having said that, I would have thought it would go for higher than that

Good bargain for the buyer

I think .org is a very powerful, authoritative extension when used for the right reason. Paired with an industry defining keyword and you have a domain that says "I rule and govern this land" which means instant air of credibility....something for profits want to associate themselves with.

If .org really suited with "investment" , the domain would have already been build out by someone/company .

.org is primarily used for non-profit and charity organisations

Investment is the total opposite of that industry, with investors with very deep pockets throwing money into all sorts of things

Thats how I see it anyway...

This is one of those domains where the plural is more valuable than the singular.

:-D That is the kind of assumption that keeps many end users purchasing domains like this in the first place. It's assumptions like this that give even more meaning to the domain industry as it is our job as domainers to let them know that a domain is in fact not in use and available for purchase!

Berkens would never sell this name at this price though. I kind of see what OP is saying. Its still a strong one word in a good ext- .org and $16K seems low for that type of name. at least 30-50K reseller.

You're right but I'm sure there are dozens of for profits who fund or cofund orgs to buttress their own agendas all the time....

Imagine OralB buying Teeth.org for 1 million to promote good dental hygiene and of course their own products as the perfect examples of what people need in their restrooms........I'm not saying this happens all the time, but it does happen...probably yearly....

Anyone ever look into the buyers (real buyers) of the 5 figure cctld sales?

My view is .ORG only makes sense for non-profit organizations. Several years ago before Google's Penguin and Panda updates exact-match domains in any TLD could rank well at Google with minimal development effort. That is no longer the case and we now have hundreds of new extensions which did not exist even three years ago. So a keyword needs to fit the TLD or there is no reason to pay a premium for it. While very short .COM domains continue to do well, my view is that the proliferation of new extensions and resources invested into them has cannibalized many domainer to domainer sales as well as low-budget developer purchases. They can just buy a .whatever instead of paying $xxx for an aftermarket domain.

False hope, thoughts like this causes people to lose their home and family.

Please think rational and realistic.

Thanks

I have heard of people spending a dollar and winning millions in the lotto. I am not arguing if what you suggest did or didn't happen. However, for those of us who need to make money daily we must stick to more realistic ideas.

If an investor bought it, I think he/she overpaid. Not too excited about the domain.
