The Internet of Things will be utilizing Blockchain technology to facilitate the decentralized communication of data between devices. Much of this communication will be in the form of digital currency, as devices and machines negotiate with each other for various services, software/hardware upgrades as well as offering fully autonomous transactions. Understanding this last point is critical, as the current implementation of IoT is built around centralized 'hubs' to route the devices communications. This is an undesirable solution and will not scale well.

As such, IoT will see it's participants utilizing digital currencies in the form of micropayments. Domain names that encompass this characteristic will do well. With that in mind:

Whoever owns InternetOfCurrency.com would be wise to let the next 2-3 years of development play out via Blockchain implementation. The market will then be able to fairly value such names. For anyone here who is interested in learning more about what the future of IoT will look like, my free advice is to educate yourself on the Blockchain.

Was at the iot show today here in London. Met some of the folks whose sites come up on the hunt for end buyers. Learned a few things from the visit. Who would have thought iot had anything to do with cosmetics? But from the companies there, sensing, home automation, drone/uav, smart cities, modules/hardware,software,fog/cloud are the niches to watch in the industry.

I have noticed in the last two weeks an increase in numbers on my IOT domains from parking at sedo. not a huge spike but it was interesting all the same. It was the same time that google IOT news came about and now everyday Im getting hits to them.

A couple of things that interest me about Internet Of Things as a domainer are:

A) The large number of Chinese registrations of IOT domains over the last 12 months. It doesn't take much research to discover that China are to invest heavily in IOT (let alone the big multinationals), and they seem to have already latched on to IOT as the acronym to invest in.

B) That IOT is not even a 'future trend', it's already begun, and yet there are still so many cool reg's available, more than I can afford to buy on top of all the other bloody tech related domains I already own!

To sum up, my prediction is that China will start to snap up IOT domains like they do numericals, Internet Of Things SPEAKS to them, and just to prove it, guess who bought iotsafety.com from Salvador5266 above me? A Mr J Dong from Beijing.
