First time I saw it happening I thought I had typed something wrong. But no.
I have some .info domains and several times when I type/paste the address directly into the address bar on Internet Explorer 7, instead of getting the site of that domain what I get is a page from Info.com with several other domains for the visitor to choose from, a search results page, thus strongly reducing the chances for a visitor to click on my domain since there are around 20 other links there.
Anyway, the visitor did Not ask for a page with lots of other similar domains, they wanted to go to One specific domain, and they are not getting it.
I have friends in other countries and they got the same diversion in a number of times. Certainly, my computer is clean of adwares and similars.
It does not happen all the time but happens very often and many of those visits we don't even know they happened because they do not appear on our logs.
Example, which happened minutes ago:
My domain: NursingDegreeOnline.info
Page I got: http://web.info.com/infocom.us/search/web/nursingdegreeonline
I had just cleaned my cache memory and got the page above, however the second time I typed my domain I got the correct destination since it is parked at ND. It seems that somewhere detected that I was trying to reach that specific domain and then shows the correct page but normal visitors would Not do that and our visitor would be certainly lost forever.
So, who is the - real - owner of info.com, Network Solutions?
What can be done to avoid that?
Thanks.
