Income from domains you don't own.

Ever find a domain in your parking account suddenly making a ton of money and then you realize you just don't own the name anymore?

I had a typo of a generic word (no TM problems) that got like ZERO visits. I bought it as part of a package. Well the past week it's made $60. I went to check when I need to renew it and search why the sudden income. Turns out I let the name drop 5 months ago. It's owned by Nameking now. What's even weirder is that DNS doesn't even point to my parking page. So this is just some oddball windfall.

Anyone else have that?

I also have domains in my account sold years ago that people never bother to add it to their own account or change DNS. Hey...whatever floats your boat.

Yep - I've got several names running like that from names I've sold, but not making that much, just the odd $ here and there. Nice to get paid twice though.

I had one in my sedo account about a week ago. Sold it to someone about 3 months ago. It was making about $5 a month. The person sent me an email saying, could you please remove xxxxx.com from your Sedo.com account, i cant add it to mine. LOL!

I thought to earn from parking, I had to own the domains, but the lack of income from my own domains and your stories have shown me my mistake.

I think it is time to sell my domains, and THEN earn money from parking them

I actually have several hundred domains receiving traffic which I no longer own -- most are unfortunately LLLL.coms and don't yield very much in the way of earnings, but every little bit helps and seeing as I don't even own them anymore, I'm not going to complain! :wave:

edit: For some reason a few CVCV.infos yield really good results for short periods of time. I still can't figure out why.

Yes it's happened a few pennies/dimes here or there, a name sold but never changed pointers. On the minus side 1&1 tried charging me for two names I don't even own.

The more you sell the more this will happen...

I had a name I sold a year ago... and the owner renewed it.. but did not change the dns... well it made me an extra $100 in the last 12months..

and I only sold the name for $15

Go figure...
