.tv In some respects, TV is better than COM

It is of course foolish and simply wrong to say that TV is stronger than the mighty COM TLD. However, there are some aspects about .tv that give it a competative edge. This thread is not about claiming that overall .tv is superior to .com. This thread is about listing areas in which .tv does have something to gloat about over .com. This should be fun

1. The term "dot com" is often associated with negative terms such as "dot bomb" and "the dot com bubble burst". TV is associated with one of the most successful technologies of all time.

2. The term com comes from an english word "Commercial" (please verify this domain experts of NP). The Term TV is virtually a universally known term regardless of culture or nation.

3. Two chars (TV) vs Three Chars (COM)

4. TV is typed with a single finger on a standard keyboard. Com requires Three.

5. There are far more great available TV names than COM

I agree with #5, although all the great names are nowhere near in value as .com for many, many years to come. Even 10 years down the road .tv will still pale in value to .com

i managed to get some good keywords under tv domain for normal reg fee when the com equivalent worths $$$$

When they get developed se's will treat them equaly nice so i m going to get benefited from this.
Already 2 of my tv domains get search traffic witout even submitting them to the se's, one of them is adult keywords from which i took some development ideas and applied just some days ago.
Now i m going to wait for the traffic to raise even more and get some roi back.

I think .tv and .com will be both as important as each other over the next few years.

Tv to me means television and travel = depends how you brand.

Com to me says company or commercial use as stated by the op.

I predict .tv will be bigger than .com within 5 years as everything will be video and .com will be standing there not knowing what to do.
Why would you look at a .com when you are doing anything to do with the TV or video on the net?
.tv was and is the extension that came to my mind.
Many of the TV channels in the UK have also thought the same... gm.tv (main morning show in the UK) and many many many more..

maybe the .com people will be surprised in the next few years as I see it happening right now in the UK.

100% agree about past and future of moving pictures progress. Also think of mobile Everything goes mobile. TV too. They already call it "the 3d screen" after TV and PC. So, Dot Mobi will eat some of TV space for sure..
