I saw everyone all excited over .in and the .co.in so I just grabbed a couple for a small investment.

What did you get .in or .co.in ? Which is better? Why?

This is why I have chosen to go with the .co.in .. Why do you think Google/Yahoo/Msn all of these huge companies and websites have decided with .co.in because it is mainly used by the Indian Online Market. So I am sticking with .co.in and with WOT said that he got over 10,000 hits.. thats amazing man.. Which names are getting that? Please Share!

I am sure it's whois.co.in

And the primary reason why all the major companies had selected .co.in is because .in was only for ISPs in India. bsnl.in has been there for a long time. I am sure things will change. Comapnies like rediff will definately try to attarct more people to use their email by offering @rediff.in domain - which sounds a lot cooler than @rediff.co.in And once some bigshot company like rediff gives .in some publicity - .in will overtake .co.in's popularity in no time. Let's wait for 6 months..

I wholeheartedly agree. This reminds me of the Canadian provincial subdomains we have here, name.on.ca is practically worthless, buyers want name.ca

Speculators of .co.in should take offers now IMHO because down the road they may have little value.

We all have different opinions, suppose you might be right, suppose you might be wrong. If your wrong then my $50 Invested will be worth something.

The big companies did not decide to use co.in - there was no decision as co.in was the only Indian commercial extension. When only bananas are available, one cannot choose a mango. Co.in may have the best recognition now, but that will change soon, I bet.

I agree with phptech. Those with offers for co.in names should sell whilst they can.

When ".uk" is released as the official one, co.uk will be history in 3 or 5 years, perhaps less!

Here is some things to keep in mind..comparison...

.co.in
- more developed and known
- a lot cheaper

.in
- new
- more expensive

I think .co.in will be chosen because its cheaper and more known. What do you guys think about this?

IMO, .co.in has been around for a while now (yes?) and all this new hype has been brought on by the new .IN daddy.. :lala: .co.in will lose it's appeal surely. I wasn't one bit interested in .co.in, and even if google.co.in had been available i'd still have chosen somethingelse.IN instead!

Yes, I think you should all buy all the .in you possibly can, leave those useless .co.in , absolutely worthless.

Wow. Such interesting speculation and that's just the sort of fun I look for. Personally I have read over both sides of the story and think that the .in ext will probably be the more popular down the track. As someone mentioned in reply to the major companies having a .co.in ext, when only bananas are available, you cannot choose mangos. That person has inevitably summed up the situation. Now that the .in exts are in (excuse the pun) they have nowhere else to go but up in value.
