On Tuesday I got a phone call from a national staffing agency that hires computer technicians as 1-time job/project contractors. Once your in their system as a tech, they will call if they have a job in your area. Well, they had a job open up for yesterday morning that involved replacing an IBM 4690 controller / POS system in an Old Navy store.
I'm a full time college student, but have been looking for a job. I didn't have any class conflicts, so I took the job. (Had to get up at 4:00am, but it was worth it).
Now I'm in their system, and I was successful with the first job. In addition to partnering with IBM, they do a lot of work with Dell. But before I can work on any hardware in Dell machines (for individuals or businesses) I have to be certified by Dell. The company is providing the online training AND testing for free.
They only reason they found me was my resume was posted on CareerBuilder.
