discuss I’m doing all my domaining with a tablet. What about you?

I used my iMac for all my domaining business before, but now I’ve switched to an iPad. So instead of sitting at my desk with my computer, I’m now semi-sitting in my sofa with my tablet. Still, I try to work the same amount of hours per day.

It seems to work very well. Most of the websites I use are adapted for mobile platforms nowadays.

What about you? Are you mainly using your computer, your tablet, or your smartphone for your domaining? Or a mix of devices?

Very cool. Someday for me perhaps. I wish I could use a tablet or a phone but honestly I cant operate effectively without a large screen and a keyboard.

Personally I think a tablet makes a huge difference, compared with a phone. I could only use my wife’s iPhone for a few days, while traveling. It was not a pleasant experience, to say the least.

I wish I could. I tried my wife's iPad and my mother-in-law's iPad Pro. I just cant type on those things. I tend to type very fast, I like the feel of keys on my fingers. Very old school. Perhaps some day, people who are older than I am ask me why I dont so its not just an age thing, its I guess I am just used to it. Even laptops pose issues for me although I could probably get away with one (which I do not have). I probably should look into it in case I am away from my home for some time. Next sale may go toward a laptop.

....I feel like it's impossible to do domaining from a tablet or phone because the mouse is a lot faster than touching ,
I can't do nothing unless i have 10-30 tabs open from 2 browsers :\ with 5 -10 different programs windows minimized

also I can't get my fingers of the ctrl+c and ctrl +v buttons , to see compared sales etc,,,it would take for ever to do that on smartphones

I agree. At this moment I have three 27 inch monitors going, large keyboard on a desk, arms are resting well onto the desk all the way up to me elbows. This is very important for me - that they're not 'up in the air or free-standing'... Got 3 browsers active, one on each monitor. Total of 29 tabs active. But I also have 2 browser windows inactive with 16 tabs between the two on those...

I develop sites as well as software, while I do domains, so I have all of this going. My desktop has been up for 85 days 22 hrs 38 min 51 sec and counting. I really enjoy this way of working however..... I do realize that I am sh1t out of luck if a sale comes in while I am away for more than a day. So I probably need to look into a laptop / notebook that I can easily get to all of my necessary accounts in order to facilitate a sale, at the very least respond to inquiries and negotiate via email / chat / etc.. I can not do that with touch screen - anything. I need a real (or at least a laptop/notebook) keyboard. I, too, do a lot of copy/paste/cut operations. I type very fast, I switch between things very quickly.. it takes me forever to do the most simple of tasks (that I would like to do) and it becomes incredibly frustrating to the point where I just turn off the phone or give the iPad back to my wife.. Play games though? I am very proficient at that on those devices! :P

I do envy my wife and others who can easily accomplish tasks with their phones and pads, etc.

Has anyone found a good solution for using an iPad or other tablet to manage a website? Not a WordPress one or hosting interface solution, but full website management (e.g. HTML5 with or without WYSIWYG interface). I actually can do about 90% of what I like from a tablet, but the two big stumbling blocks in going totally that way are web management and the screen size issue for some tasks.

The main advantage to laptop / desktop is ability to open multiple windows simultaneously and refer or copy/paste between them. You don’t get that with a phone or tablet - one just has a larger screen but both are equally limited in the multi department. I see no point in the tablet at all for on the go serious work.

Since iOS 10 on the iPad, you can have up to 3 apps visible on screen at the same time. Two in split view and 1 in slide over.

I’ve now tried to work one week with my tablet and one week at my big screen Mac. My conclusion:

- Not much of a difference, but for programming and any design work, I would definitely sit at my desk.

- I’ve also noticed that it sometimes is easier to sign up for various services and uploading loads of files etc. from a computer, than from a tablet.

- Personally, I will continue to do most of my domaining with a tablet, but change for the computer while doing certain tasks.

3,5 years have passed and now (sorry, I forget about the promised update). But, I'm back using my iMac (instead of iPad) for 90% of my domain work.

Why? There are two main reasons:

1. I tend to get tired from semi-sitting in a sofa.

2. Searching loads of names is simply faster for me, using a "regular" computer.

But I am happy that I can use a tablet when traveling, or working on a café atc.

I might use my tablet or mobile for basic things like checking email, social media, and bidding but I use my laptop (as a desktop setup) for most anything else. I prefer a larger screen and mouse and keyboard.

It makes work far more efficient to me.

If you want to be productive and do serious work, then you need a proper desktop computer (can be a notebook/laptop or an actual desktop PC or Mac).

The important thing is that you need a large screen (at least 15"-16", but the larger the screen, the better), you need a large keyboard (not an on-screen keyboard! I mean a proper full-size keyboard), and a mouse.

Tablet or mobile phone is only good to quickly check a sale or an offer and respond quickly while traveling.

Small screens are great for a phone call. Text too, though the "keyboard" often misspells my intent.
