discuss I’m doing all my domaining with a tablet. What about you?

I used my iMac for all my domaining business before, but now I’ve switched to an iPad. So instead of sitting at my desk with my computer, I’m now semi-sitting in my sofa with my tablet. Still, I try to work the same amount of hours per day.

It seems to work very well. Most of the websites I use are adapted for mobile platforms nowadays.

What about you? Are you mainly using your computer, your tablet, or your smartphone for your domaining? Or a mix of devices?

I generally use my laptop and phone. I use my laptop for the more tedious tasks and my phone for stuff like checking email and bidding on auctions.

I think that is great. As we get older, we need to take care about things like posture, etc...while young, I was able to sit hours and hours in front of computer....not any more, it is not healthy ...so devices like tables are very useful imo :)

My HP laptop died in February. Been trying to do everything on my phone for about a month.

Ended up buying a Samsung tablet at Costco in Calgary yesterday. Using it now from a truck stop in Brandon MB. Checking emails, hoing through the TBR, posting on Namepros. Started a Shopify store with it last night. I'm impressed. Might not need a desktop anymore.

Self assembled desktop with AMD processor, 2 HDD 0.5 TB(one for primary & other secondary fixed for backup, spins when needed) & Samsung 19" square monitor with APC power backup + HP tab 7 for reading. I have Partitioned the live (primary) HDD into 6 OS/Projects/Resources/Songs/Fmlypics/Games&vids). I keep formatting the OS partition monthly once, re-install windows, download & install Norton AV 30 day internet security(the whole process takes only 30 minutes but saves from tons of malware, viruses & improves speed for rest of the whole month) & take project / resources backup to secondary disk.

so... is anybody here using worlds most kickass lapttop???
its only 9k. ;)
I hate "laptops" like that. The thing weighs 20 pounds and has two massive power bricks, is difficult to carry and needs 2 power outlets. Parts are hard to get and simple things like cleaning the fans is a pain because it has 5 of them and not all are easy to get to. Its a massive heat pump and people end up blocking the air flow, because it takes up so much space, and it cooks itself.

Dell used to make this monster:

It is a 21" laptop as well. I used to repair these all the time. It pumped out so much heat it would cook itself to death after 18 months or so. People would bring them into my shop and as soon as they walked in I would say "It just shutdown and wont turn on anymore, right ?". I was right 100% of the time.

1. a tablet but also a laptop if you want it to be = Microsoft Surface Go

2. a smartphone but also a -massive- camera and an actual phone, call management and recording and all, if you want it to be = Google Pixel 3 XL

But to tell you the truth, nothing beats having your own desk with a dual screen desktop. You won't spend 5+ hrs working unless it is on this kind of setup. Plus a little fridge, I will get this setup soon since I now have a spare room in my house for this kind of thing. Yay!

You don't look old enough to be guzzling beer from the fridge :)

Exactly.

Sitting too much makes my back sore. Half-sitting in a sofa or bed is fine though.

With proper chairs you be lounging.
You have to try first, don't buy on the internet.

Brought my first iMac in 2008, finally a machine I could count on. Today I have iMac in home office, living room and bedroom. Can't imagine to work on small screen.

Not only can I not imagine not working on an iMac, I can't imagine working on a...PC.

PC is better than Mac.
Mac brings 8% of Apple's revenue.
Apple doesn't focus on making the best computers.
Macbooks suck when it comes to speed and power.
iMacs can be powerful if you spend $18,000.
PC wins.

Yeah, no. I like screens. Big screens. Telephones were meant for talking. People that like to squint, or looking at small items, well, maybe they're used to it. Looking down and all.. squinting to make sure they're aiming properly.

^ : just joshing : < : kind of :

Desktop for me. Its nice, because instead of spending $500 every two weeks on a new squint, I can keep my 23" of visual real estate and perhaps replace about $50 every 5 years for a new part.

For me, half-sitting on a sofa or bed, I would have though would have been much worse posture than sitting at a table in a proper chair/seat.

I think it’s very individual.

From half-sitting I get no sore back and tired shoulders whatsoever. However, I might get a little sleepy in the sofa occasionally. ;) That’s why I am drinking more than a liter of coffee per day.

Off topic and general: Deadlift (moderate weight) is great for lower back health and face pulls with ropes are great for shoulder health (if desk work have caused you to have forward rounded shoulders, which might cause pinched nerves and pain).

Most often said by people with very little Mac experience. ;)
