I have seen quite a few registered lately, has anyone got any comments on these names. What if there was a good keyword name, is it worth grabbing.

I believe its the Isle Of Man, but are people possibly going to use the "Instant Messaging" acronym for these domains??

Thanks for any advice??

wow, could it be from Indians living abroad perhaps??, I can't see why many people would type in a .im, Isle of man is tiny and so is their population. (they're not midgets, there's just not many of them ;))

I had isleofman.im for a few weeks and it did'nt get that much traffic

ps) do you live in Dubai ?

.

I don't think it comes from Indians living abroad as I am getting good number of hits on every .IM domain I own. By the way, I have Auto.im which gets over 1800 unique visitors and now I have now forwarded to one of my website.

Yeah, Isle of man have very less population. If you IsleOfMan.im then why dropped? I can see it's now owned by their government bodies or someone related to that? Did they snatch purposely from you? If yes, why? If not, why dropped?

I lived in United Arab Emirates for 10 years but now back to my home country Pakistan.

Should I sell?

Hi,

Just seeking some advice on one of my domain names.

I've recently had a low $xxx offer for SELL . im. Having looked at some other .IM sales, I believe its worth a bit more but am not too sure.

Could anyone advise? Should I sell or hold out for a better offer?

Think of an initial offer as a starting point. Counter higher if you feel the name is worth more. One thing you have to consider with cctld's is that the number of POTENTIAL buyers is much less so offers are harder to come by. Weigh the cost of renewals against that when you pass on an offer.

Good luck.

Thanks Samit :)

Most of them are hand reg and very few I bought it for even $x,xxx

However, you may be right that the traffic comes to .im is the typo of .in but there will be some other reasons in bringing extra traffic to .im domains.

Let us know after some time which of your newly reg .im domain is getting the most traffic and from which part of the world...

Interesting theory that maybe .im names are getting traffic as a typo of .in

Nonetheless, I bought themes.im from someone on np.

Register and Renew .IM domains at Name.com for $6.99.

Thanks for this information. I got to know about their price reduction on .im domains but I would still prefer to stay with DomainMonster.com because of their good customer support and their price for .im seems to be for a very long period of time whereas Name.com mentioned it's reduced till summer...

Yes, you're right. IMO the best thing to do is regging now with Name.com and later transferring to DM.

how good are .im for registering? can they can used to develop successful international sites ?
I see a keyword with 500K exact searches as per adwords tool and its .im is not taken (its .me .in .co .tel etc are all taken ).. should I register it ?

I just renewed dvd.im with eurodns for 18euros which is pretty pricey. I forgot completely about this name and it has been laying forgotten for a year. Anyway, should i have transferred it out to name.com? Maybe i shouldn't have been so hasty in renewing with eurodns.

If you plan to develop then it's okay for you to buy it. If you plan to resell or park it then I am not sure about it until you don't tell us what the domain is... Because currently there is no good market for .IM domains but my gut feeling says there is good future ahead for .IM domains so if you can hold your name for a longer period of time it may give you some nice outcome in future...

You could have moved to Name.com or DomainMonster.com as they both are cheap for .IM domain registration and renewals. DomainMonster even provides free privacy whois so that's really cheap as compare to EuroDNS which doesn't even have good support as DM.

@abdulbasituae - I agree on everything you have said.

I have a nice portfolio of .im domain names that I plan on developing. I'm planning for the long-term. I probably will not start development until 2011. But, if anyone who has .im domain names or any other names on country-code extensions, it's best to develop those into full valuable websites. When you develop, the sky is the limit.

I should say that I'm using my .im domain names as an abbreviation for

1. "I Am"
2. "Internet Marketplace"
3. "International Marketplace"
4. "Instant Messaging"
5. "Instant Message"
6. "Internet Monitor"
7. "Identification Management"
8. "Infant Monitor"
9. "Instant Media"
10. "Information Masking"
11. "Intelligent Man"
12. "Instant Mail"
13. "Institute of Mathematics"
14. "Internet Medicine"

Just giving you all some ideas. Right now, it seems like I will be going the "I Am" and "Internet Marketplace" route. If I had NewYorkCity.im (I missed it) I would say welcome to "I Am New York City."

Have A Wonderful Day!

Yes, i tried to find how i forward the domain and can't find it. Must be hidden somewhere or this is not an option maybe.

What do you think of dvd.im anyway? Worth hanging on to?

There will be surely some way to in their domain control but haven't used them frequently so have no idea...

IMO, I feel it has low $xxx value. If you develop and hold for a longer period then will surely be a gem in future. Make a site on which you can sell dvds online...
