I have seen quite a few registered lately, has anyone got any comments on these names. What if there was a good keyword name, is it worth grabbing.


I believe its the Isle Of Man, but are people possibly going to use the "Instant Messaging" acronym for these domains??

I could see SMS.im (not mine) sold for 5,500 USD through Sedo.com which is good sign for the .im domain investors.

I have much better names in .im as I'm sure most of the people here do, though this might be a one off sale.

Not that I'm too worried, developed most of my .ims would make 5x+ reg fee every month.

Sold another domain SEO dot im for $4000

Pretty good sale, great ROI.

$8 purchase, $4k sale.

And in less than a week I think.

I won't even attempt to calculate annualized ROI.

Wonder what the 'only buy .coms' crowd would have to say about that.

Thanks for making this thread as I was thinking of creating one for .IM domains. Yes, it was bought and sold in a week only.

IMO, there is value in .IM domains but only if you have top keywords or you have good developed website. I do own some .IM domains which are listed below and I focus on buying only premium domains because my plan is to sell and not develop. Very few .IM domains are making enough money through parking to pay their renewals itself which is a good sign. Also they are getting decent number of traffic on daily basis.

I will tell you one shocking news about couple of .IM domain names...

Free.im was sold was for $1,150 in 2008 but later dropped by the previous owner and I grabbed it.

Secondly Mobile.im was sold for $7,000 which can be verified at http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2008/domainsales02-05-08.htm and dropped by the previous owner and I grabbed it once was available at reg fee!

I wonder why both these guys dropped the domains specially the previous Mobile.im owner who paid such a big amount.

Anyhow, it doesn't matters to me because I got what I wanted :D
