I just saw this at Sedo...

Sedo's Online Retail Aution

The upcoming Online Retail Auction will include domains fulfilling the following criteria:

The domain relates to the online retail industry, e.g. Shopping.com, ebooks.com, etc.
The domain is relatively short, a real word or term and is easy to remember
It is a generic domain, e.g. dvds.com, creditcard.com or presents.com
The domain is easy to spell and not prone to typographical errors
The domain is product-related and therefore has a high commercial value
The domain doesn't violate any third party rights (e.g. trademark rights)
The ccTLD geographically matches the language of the domain name
The reserve price for the domain is reasonable

I don't have many product related .tv's maybe 10 or so but I have a bunch in other extensions. I did just submit 5 of my .TV product domains to this auction w/decent reserves but this thread is not so much for me as it is for the .TV extension itself, and of course you guys with the killer product .tv portfolios like RL, RPK, etc.

Good Luck to all, and if you get any info, denied or accepted,
please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Vito.

edit...

Just got an email from someone curious how to add one of his domains from Sedo into this retail Online Auction, so I figured he wasn't the only one curious how to, so I am answering in the thread here.

Log in to your Sedo account.
Click on "My domains"
Go all the way down to the bottom left hand corner, and you will see a dropdown menu.
It currently says "saved marked changes" w/ a big red "execute" button to the right of it.

Click on that drop down and you will see this...

sedodropdown.png

Select "apply for Online Retail Auction", and then there is only 1 or 2 steps left!

Good Luck to everyone,
Vito.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I think Sedo sent you the wrong message RPK. This was the message for you

" after a detailed assessment, the following domains have not been included in the auction (the specific reason is indicated in parentheses after each domain):

- outlets.tv (Quality requirements far over exceed )
- wholesale.tv (Quality requirements far over exceed)

Presently we're looking for crappy domains that have no relation to retail whatsoever. Thank you anyway "

IMHO :snaphappy::talk: :lol:

lol

I got rejected on every product name I submitted. Whoever is making there decisions over at Sedo needs to get a "f#$cking clue.

Lets start submitting domains that have nothing at all to do with Online Retail and who knows...I think I will try my Garbage.tv, or RSS.tv...

I bet they would take these since they don't make any sense at all, lol

Actually, Think of all of the money they are seriously losing by not acepting relevant domains. It really is sad for them and us. You're right though, Whoever is involved in the submittal/denial Dept. over there has some serious issues.

Maybe they'll accept retail.tv who knows (not that I own it of course ) :D

I bet if Roy would of submitted Shoes.tv prior to his $18,000 sale, they would of rejected that. These guys at Sedo have there "head of there ass"

Did you not like, and are you now not even employing them as sold comp's, the "reported sales" recently at Sedo of Business.TV, Learn.TV, Christmas.TV, and at least 17+ other ".TV's" to one Portalis AG? :|

Thanks for the clarification,
Jeff B-)

pretty sure sedo is only doing tld extensions, .com, .net, .org for the product auction, they probably would not accept product.tv ; moreover, the premium .tv auction from sedo in April has caused the .tv extension to be entirely in it's own separate entity. submitting any .tv names to sedo will not be awarded, even if you have shoes.tv

I'm assuming tld names are as followed

Soda.com
paper.net
shoes.net

Sorry Sylar,
but that is not the case here.

Here are Sedo's guidelines for domain submittals into their "Online Retail Auction".

The domain relates to the online retail industry, e.g. Shopping.com, ebooks.com, etc.
The domain is relatively short, a real word or term and is easy to remember
It is a generic domain, e.g. dvds.com, creditcard.com or presents.com

The domain is product-related and therefore has a high commercial value
The domain doesn't violate any third party rights (e.g. trademark rights)
The ccTLD geographically matches the language of the domain name
The reserve price for the domain is reasonable
Preferred TLDs are .com, .net, .co.uk, .de, .es, .fr, .org

They don't rule out any domains at all but do not add ".TV" into their prefeered list.
Nonetheless - Desktops, Wholesale, C'mon Those 2 are better than 80% of the crap they have in there already.

Even a few of mine were better than more than 50% in there currently...???

I was thinking to try add computers(.)tv but I don't know what should be the reserve price and now I have the feeling that it will be rejected in any case..

It most likely will be rejected like the rest here, but it only takes like 30 seconds to try, so why not try? I am gonna give it one more go myself.

Their criteria is clearly;
The reserve price for the domain is reasonable.

I'll bet that they are receiving a good deal of submissions with UNREASONABLE "Reserve prices"! :yell: :imho:

Good Luck,

Even with reasonable reserve prices I've been submitting (around the $400) for decent names, they are still being rejected.

If they match the rest of their criteria, then it's kind of hard to figure out this puzzle ... what are some of your decent names being rejected at present? :gl:

Best regards,

I think they are just rejecting all .tv's.

Just looked at the inventory product list on sedo and man those domains are horrible, now I agree that some of these .tv names being submitted are 80% better then the current list..

Breaking News!!!! TicketSales.tv became the first .tv to get into the retail auction. I guess Computers.tv, Retail.tv, etc. was not as good as TicketSales.tv. Sedo is so "f#cked up

WOW,
Stop the presses!
Re-edit!
A real live actual .TV Domain name in the "Online Marketplace" Sedo Auction!

Ticketsales.TV

Yes, I am not gonna say anything bad about this domain at all because I do wish it were mine, but of all the .TV domains rejected so far...

At least there is 1 .TV in there.

Thanks for the info Jim.

Vito.

I suggest we all e-mail Sedo on Monday and flood them with Comps on retail product names that have sold in .tv, such as Shoes.tv, Grill.tv, etc. E-mail them through there standard customer service and e-mail them through the brokerage. Hit them 2x, basically bug the crap and education them on .tv and state our case. It could be very effective if we all do this.

I will post my response when I hear back from them here.

Thanks, Jim

I'm not presently using "Shoes.TV" for firm comp. purposes ... as the sale has yet to complete and reflecting any status update / new ownership in the Enom Whois, IMHO. :gl:
I will check again tom'w and update for convenience.

Best regards,
Jeff B-)

Added: I'm also not using "Grill.TV" similarly for firm comp. purposes! :gl: :imho:

Sedo's thinking is so strange. I think they let the interns choose the names for premium auctions sometimes...

They passed up Wholesale.Tv for some of that other Crap???!!!

Are people even reading the requirements of this auction?

Wholesale.tv? The auction is about retail? So how odes it make sense to submit a name that means the opposite.

And shower.tv? How is that a retail name, watch videos of showers? Buy you new shower at shower.tv?

(It sounds like a porn name where you'd watch people in the shower.)

Sedo: Hi, We are having an auction about the color white.
Domainer: Ok, I'll submit black.com.

Here is the response from Sedo below: Left a message for one of the brokers as well and see what happens:

Dear Jim,

Thank you for your email.

We regularly receive many thousands of applications for each Premium or Themed Auction. Our brokerage team must therefore be very strict when it comes to assessing each application. Many domains which are of sufficient quality and are likely to sell well are not accepted for the auction as we have received enough applications of even higher quality domains which better fit the stated criteria.

When this is the case, you will be advised accordingly and will be able to apply for future auctions.

If you would like to discuss your portfolio further, please call our US brokerage team on one of the following numbers +1-617-499-7238/18/45/50.

If you have any further questions or comments, please log into your Sedo account then visit our Customer Support Center at FAQ - Sedo.com.

Now five .tv domains accepted into the auction.

Domain Search*-*Sedo.com

.

Very Nice.

I purposely avoided this thread, and/or even re-checking the auction line-up, just assuming none would be accepted.

Good Luck to all of the Sellers!

Thx for the update Len.
