If an offer is from "@mac.com," is it from Apple?

Does anyone know if there's a way to have an "@mac.com" address if you don't work at Apple? I received an offer on one of my domains from someone with an address ending with "@mac.com," and I'm trying to determine if he's representing Apple and trying to lowball me...

Seems like they'd hide that a little better if it was on their behalf, but I figured it was worth asking.

No, anyone with a Mac computer can have a @mac.com email address (costs about $100 per year). I have one.

Good luck with your sale

Ahhh...that's what I wondered. I don't have a Mac myself, so I wasn't aware of that. Thanks!

That's an awful lot for an email address.

The price is explained by the other stuff that's included, like push-button publishing, photocasting, podcasting, blog, disk storage page, automatic file backup, syncronization between computers, la-di-da. All in all, it's a decent package although the price is pretty steep.

it use to be 1 year free a while back.
I am not surprised they are charging for it though as it now includes many more services.

Run the full email address through the Search Engines.

It might shed light on the owner..

Mostly, no reuslt are found but I have tried it in the past and spotted prevalent resellers and large company officials..

You may find its the marketing director of Apple...

One of the addies that the typical PhD scam used was a mac.com address - that's not to say that this one is, but just something to take into consideration (mac.com sounds much better than an aol.com or hotmail.com account would, so scammers gravitate towards these sorts.)
There is a free 60 day trial with mac.com, and it is well worth it imho:

Best to ya,
