Apple taking first shot at ZUNE??

I found this interesting site today - DeadZune.com.

It is a sponsored site, type Zune in Google, and it goes to an iPod store site with no title on it, and Apple copyright info on the bottom. The whois, shows the domain is held by DomainsByProxy, and was just registered Saturday. Looks like the first lines of defense are being set!

Why couldn't it belong to Apple? Afterall, Coke can make fun of Pepsi by name on its commercials etc.

It's just a frame redirect to the ipod website. I doubt Apple owns it. Its registered through Godaddy with WHOIS guard.

I mean its possible but Highly unlikely IMO , there are just to many things that add up against it , for one you will never hear Coke or Pepsi saying the word Death to each other , and when i first read this i thought okay a Ipod Affiliate bought the name because of the zune craze , hid the identity to just keep the speculation growing like it just has. But jumping to this being Apples first line of defense is just funny withought doing a proccess of ilimination, and frankly it just dont add up

There's nothing definitive, so far, to say Apple does or doesn't have anything to do with it. In today's competive marketing world, and with the history of Apple and Microsoft in the computer markets, who knows. But if not Apple, or someone connected somehow, somebody is promoting iPods, and Apple is probably the only one reaping the rewards of the sales!! ...and the free exposure!

I wouldn't think Apple was behind this. Saying "dead" anything nowdays will get your company a bad rep. IMO

They are much smarter than that. They would reg something less offensive.

"The Dead Zone" is the name of a famous book by Stephen King, and also a movie, and more recently a television series on cable, so this is a play on words.

Much like TwilightZone <> TwilightZune.

I have no idea who is behind this, but it's interesting.

watch microsoft sue them and set a precedent/example on trademark infringement(thats a clear violation) and then go after the other 1376+ zuneXXXx.com domains.

domainsbyproxy wont save him from microsoft :imho:
