I was looking at a couple of names set to drop in the next couple days, and for every one of them when I searched at snap it said "auction starts at such and such a date", well if they already have the date of auction for it does that mean that they are guaranteed to acquire it?

Also, how do I find out if a name will go to snap, tdnam, or be dropped for everyone to have a shot at

A domain on Snapnames drop list auction is guaranteed to acquire only if you win the auction, this mean that you have to be the only person that has backordered the domain, if you aren't the only one the domain will go to the auction.

I mean is it guaranteed that SNAPNAMES will acquire, not me. I'm just wondering if they're making it appear that they definitely will be the ones to put it back into circulation, even if another company might beat them to it

Snap has a lot of partnerships with registrars to get all deleting domains. So depending on the registrar, it quite possibly is guaranteed to Snap. Search the forums, there have been past threads that list drop services and their partnered registrars.

does snap post domains for auction even if no one has preordered them?

Domain names drop 5 days after entering pending-delete status so drop date is usually predictable.

A Snapnames auction is not always guaranteed. A few days ago Snapnames caught a domain I was watching. Currently I am in the active Snapnames auction for this domain.

Checked the whois this morning only to find out the domain has been renewed being used by a company? non-registrar. I am currently the high bidder for the domain. Lets see what happens ones the auction ends in 8 hours.

I already have send Snapnames an e-mail regarding this.

Let us know what happens. I don't like the sounds of that.

Where is the domain currently registered at ? This makes a HUGE difference.

Here is the reply I received from Snapnames. I did win the auction and paid. Now I have to wait and see when or if I get control over the domain. I will let you know what happens.

Response (Dorothy)

Dear Philip,

I have checked with the Registrar who helped us to acquire the domain nam xxxxx.com. The domain name was released to us because it was available for auction. The WhoIs is not correct, and will be updated to reflect the winner of the auction after the auction ends and registration of the name is completed.

Thank you very much for keeping an eye on things.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

I just want to let you know that the issue has been resolved. I now have control over the domain and whois has been updated.

I must have aged at least 10 years during the wait. :hehe: Snapnames rep handled the issue very professional.

Cool - Do you think that the name was one that had actually been put up to be auctioned off rather than a name that was expiring ?

The domain expired since the previous owner, for what ever reason did not renew it. But I am happy because the domain is a Dutch generic word, job related, which has alot of potential if developed right.
