I received a letter from ****@godaddy.com

They asked me to renew my name. I sent my login and password to this address. After 12 hours I lost access to my account. I see a new information in WHO IS.

My name is regeisterd to anotehr ****@yahoo.com address.

I tried to contact this person but without success.

What should I do. GoDaddy customer service doe snot respond.

May be I did something wrong and they rewarded mty domain to that person. Is this legit?

Please help!

You should never never never NEVER send your username and password on e-mail..

godaddy will never ask for it.

Call godaddy at once, someone has really tricked you here!!

But if you send your username and password to "[email protected]",
who can hijack your domain, other than some staffs there?.

It can be anyone. Its possible to fake email address shutra..wont go in details but its just a min work.. and The email shows some other address and return address is different. So Its possible.
Btw did u mail the password and username or u were send to some site to fill in a form and subbmit password.

Whats the domain name anyways..

I meant only that rajat. If the email shows someother link, ed might have avoided it obviously. I think what he meant is, an email was sent from "[email protected]" to which he sent his username and password via email. If he did like this, i think maybe the reply to email might have been different. :(

The email can show fake names, but it doesnt mean its from them

NEVER send your password in email NEVER EVER

and also, for banking sites don't click on links from emails - always type the address in the address bar yourself.

good luck with getting it back

Sorry but I do not think Godaddy will do something in this situation. You have sent the password...

Are you sure the email goes to an address directly in GoDaddy? It seems you're a victim of phishing. It's a scam where you get duped into beleiving the email sent is from a legit source (like GoDaddy).

See more info on phishing here.

because godaddy does not have any responsibilities in such a case
you might have sold the domain to that person, taken the money, but want to recover the domain back
etc...
i do noy say you did. but wear their shoes to understand them well
to keep password safe is customers responsibility in most cases

Do you want to reveal the name to us?

Its a typical trick..

I have receievd hundreds of email like that, either its for a domain acount or
paypal... But as an webmaster or domain owner you should be smarter than that! You should know that you never give out info like that without checking the details ....

Hope you get it sorted out!

if u just want to fight for it.. then we can do one thing..

you can check email source.. check the ip address or server address and then go throught it..

you can also file complain to FCC
