did your credit card expire? You need to keep the expiration date updated.

ok i got reply from them

"Thank you for your email. The reason the domain didn't renew is because the card you had on file, did not have sufficient funds to pay for the renewal. You were notified of these failures and notified that the domain was being removed from your account at the registrant contact listed for account. The domain was removed from your account and it was picked up by a third party off of the expiring domains list. Their contact details can be seen in a whois query if you would like to attempt to purchase the domain name back from them.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Regards,"

im not sure if there was no money in my card
but shouldnt they hold the domain for me? and not give it up so easily like that!

If they repeatedly tried to renew the domain and contact you using your account's info, then they have done their job. You seem to be the only one to blame for the loss of that domain as your account info should always be correct and up to date.

I agree with Irieman. If you didn't receive those emails then your email on record was incorrect, or wasn't working. I always get them at least, so I know their system works. It would have gone to their expired domain auction at about day 35 after expiry. That is where somebody picked it up. If you only just discovered the domain is not resolving (after 5 months) to however you set it up to resolve, it could not have been a very important domain. So no great loss. I'd move on and chalk it up to experience. Just remember to keep your email current at Name.com, and always make sure you have enough funds on your credit card to make the payment. This isn't Name.com's fault. They are a good and reputable company.

For quite a long time I would not receive all notifications from them, so I am sure that at some point their E-mails were spamtrapped.

May be you credit card information was not up-to-date.. That may be the reason Auto renewal for you domain name might be failed.

If you are not sure that your creditcard had enough money (10 dollars would have been enough), then i don't know why you are complaining.

I always keep available funds on Name.com. This is a great way to ensure you always have funds to cover renewals. Also I hate auto Billing via credit card. Why? well you can go out one day loose your credit card cancel it and forget to update your card at the registrars you are with. Upload some funds.
