.mobi I have to agree reg's are getting worse!

I have to agree reg's are getting far worse and i think people are so addicted to regging names that any half decent finds give them a rush. I am guilty of this also. :'(

I was lucky to hand reg these earlier this evening.

LandLady.mobi rental accomadation. Only extension left on my search.

CabinCrew.mobi Job vacancies on planes.

As nearly every veteran domain name regger has said on this forum in the last couple of months, THE AFTER MARKET IS THE PLACE TO BE.

I have bought a few lately

UNP.mobi
Just.mobi
Mixture.mobi
Racist.mobi
XXXXXXX.mobi will reveal all soon. :xf.love:

some nice names IMHO.

AFTERMARKET IS THE PLACE TO BE :imho:

I just hope mobi doesn't become obsolete in that time period. Things like the iphone are only going to continue to happen and sadly for whatever reason none of these cell phone companies that backed mobi are doing anything for it besides making websites that no one will visit on mobi domains that only redirect to the .coms.

the iphone misconception is hilarious... i own an iPhone.. while it is a cool gadget, it is FAR from ideal and the most important thing to note is the internet lacks real mobile content. even if i had a 100ft. roll-out LCD screen on my iphone, to think no further innovation will come of MAINSTREAM INTERNET USE ON MOBILE DEVICES is just too funny for words.

.mobi is just a domain name that relates to this new "mobile" internet, and it will play some part when the internet-on-mobile-devices goes mainstream.. that is my gut feeling since we cannot create our own TLDS like .cell, .phone, .whatever

I really see .mobi having a future similar to .info -- which isn't a bad think in light of recent .info sales, now is it :kickass:

It serves a purpose, if only to identify content as being mobile in nature, much as .info is often used for "information". If .mobis rank higher in mobile search engines, much as how .infos rank higher if you type in info preceded by what you're looking for information on, we may have a very interesting .mobi market on our hands in the future.

Either way, it's still a tld, Google doesn't seem to penalize it (and mobile search engines definitely don't), so it's all good for developers :tu:

sure super premiums will fetch well. look at mortgage.biz 15k. (probably same buyer as mortgage.mobi, off topic) i dont know if they should be considered the bellweather for how an upcoming extension is doing. i think pay.mobi was a very intelligent purchase. Flowers, not so much.

I encourage anyone who invests in .mobi to continue/start thinking big. Consider uses for the extension. How often do you hear some one say that about another extension? You here it with .tv (though misnomer/public doesnt know/so what) and its smart. .info, we shall see.

And how is that bad for .mobi? I've only seen an increase in traffic since it arrived. Personally I think the iPhone is :kickass: for .mobi.

If things like that continue to happen, GOOD!

^ and its this kind of thinking that will slowly start the great mobi domainer depression.

way too many people had unreasonable hopes/expectations for mobi... probably the MAJORITY of mobi'ers.. nothing we can do about that except recognize it for what it is: impatience and a misunderstanding, whoops.

lots of mobi'ers will drop off and forget about it entirely because of this, much like many of the early domainers who dropped premium .coms in the early days.

mobi is no .com, but a similar cycle will take place i predict.
Oh, i won't be dropping my mobis. I only own a handful but they are premium. I guess with some of the auction sales i got into the mindset that these domains were going to be worth good money sooner than i originally thought. Like i said, i don't mind waiting 5 years but there is also the risk that it could never take off. Mobile internet is the future, no doubt about it but unless corps promote .mobi names, or even better incorporate .mobi into phones no one is going to be typing in .mobi into their mobile phones. We'll just have to wait and see.

If I go through my list of favorite sites, I have 1 .mobi (dir.mobi), 1 .info (phytochemicals.info), 1 .ca (cbc.ca), 1 .net (food-info.net), 4 .org (aoa.org, dev.w3.org, en.wikipedia.org, gimp.org) and a good 30 .coms.

So all that big money being thrown around for top quality .nets isn't landing their sites favorite status for me... Am I alone here? I like quality content. I couldn't give a ... (fill in as need be) what extension it happens to be in.

IMO, sites with quality content will thrive, mobi or not. So develop quality content, and there'll be no reason to whine!

There is no arguing against quality content, but I'll even take half baked content over a parking page.

As would I. I remember about a month ago or so, there was a NP member who was asking for a free .com. He said that he would develop it and sell it all in 1 day. Well 99% (if not everyone except him) of us thought he was crazy. But he did manage to sell it for $75-$100 (can't remember). Not sure if anyone else saw the clickpurple.com thread. It was a creative idea and it worked out well for him. Sad to see it's new owner chose to park it.

When you think that even a single click/day will most likely result in several multiples of what your reg fee is, it's really hard not to justify taking 10 minutes and putting up something more than a lander page...

Thanks for reminding me of that -- looks like I've got some work to do this weekend! :yell:
