I Get The Feeling...

Hello All,

I don't know if it's just me or maybe a real trend is developing in the 3 letter domain market. Yes, 3-letter domains have been steadily rising in value over the last 3 years, but it seems that real recently (over the last 2 months) the values are vaulting up quicker and quicker. I even seem to be getting far more unsolicited offers (of better quality) on the 3-letter domains I currently own.

So...I get the feeling...that the values of 3-letter domains in the top extensions of .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and .us are indeed starting to breakout and leap higher.

For example:

1. I've seen almost no 3-letter .com sales below $1000 since the new year and many with quality letters are selling for really strong prices (IMHO).
2. Folks are snapping up 3-letter .net names at an alarming rate at prices of $250 each and more.
3. There have been quite a few sales of 3-letter .org, .info, .biz and .us names in the high $xx and low $xxx range recently. It seems to me that the typical wholesale sales values of these names has risen almost 50% across the board (though non premium .us is still lagging somewhat).

So I ask...is it me or is the market for these names strengthening even more-so in the wake of their limited availability (like we've always thought it one day would)?

I have my fingers crossed...what do you think?

I think the market is catching up, and with this, the prices are rising. Many people realize that 3 letter .com 's are out of their price range, so they go for the next best thing, the .net, or the .org, or the .info, depending on their budget. I wouldn't be surprised if the value of 3 letter .com domains doubled or even tripled within the next few years.

Andrew you are right on with .com I don't see it in .us though, although I wish it would and am on the same side looking for value increase in .US. Only own one .com you have one of the best portfolios for .com IMO.

It is the market, and not only the 3 lettter ones.
I see raising the 4 letters* also during last 6 month.

The 3 letters .info will catch up in 2005 massively, cause I can't free my mind of, that some bigger player is buying all he can get

Haven't seen any evidence of price rises in the last few months, still lots of names priced at $1000 which get no interest. In the last 2-3 years I would say 3 letter .com's have maybe risen 300% though I think that is still less than the rest of the market especially traffic domains when you factor in earnings (from parking) aswell as price rises. Can you give any examples of poor letter combinations selling for over $1000 recently zesty?

In regards to .us there seems to have been no price rise at all since they were all taken, the bad ones do not even seem to get reg fee.

I've noticed many "businesses" that used to have long URL's finally realizing it's easier to remember 3/4 letters (.com), which is why there is probably this increase. For example many MANY schools/universities in my area have gone from http://www.yourschoolofchoiceinthistown.org to http://www.ysc.com . I've seen this A LOT in the last year and a half, in my area.

British Airways dropped down to BA dotcom in their commericials (I think) recently. Used to use a longer addy to shoppity.
